Your thoughts? They claim they're selling it all so cheap because it's all OEM, but still...

There is no catch - the software versions that we sell are OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) which means you will receive the installation CDs only (they do not come in their original retail packing and do not include the manual). We do guarantee that all programs are the 100% full working retail versions - no demos or academic versions! When you order, you will receive all materials required for a complete installation - or your money back! Why pay hundreds dollars more when you can get exactly the same but cheaper? You don't have to pay that much for the fancy box and manuals.

This software is recognized as a backup software.

I think the bit I bolded says it all really. Not once do they say it's legal, just that it works and that it's not a demo nor an academic version.

Besides, OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) software?... Since when was software considered "Equipment" or had anything to do with "Manufacturing" ???

If software could be sold under an OEM contract it'd still be illegal to sell it individually like they are. In any event, shoo of an email to MS/Adobe and ask em if their certified resellers or if they get their supplies form certified resellers, I believe both MS and Adobe have reseller certification programs to help stop piracy vendors like this company appears to be.

If it seems too good to be true, it probably is.

I say that this stinks of piracy.

the FAQ says the software ships from eastern europe

they use smart-payments.com for their secure ordering and payments. That's a Texas based company. I bet smart-payments would shut em down pretty quick if they found out [info@smart-payments.com] they were selling pirated software :P

Fig: heh, it seems ALOT (if not all) of their price calculations are wrong. I especially like this one for Delphi:

quote:
Retail price: $404.99
Our low Price: $60.00
You Save: $435.00

Wow! You save more money than the Retail price was listed as! They pay YOU to get this software...

It does look to good to be true.

Man, but I'd be tempted to lay down 50 bucks for PS just for the chance. Of course, if it doesn't work, you could always report them and get your money back.

In my opinion, it is all illegal software. And for illegal software, their prices are abusive. Is there any place I can go to report abusive prices...?

You can only get your money back (possibly) if you can find them.
I was sucked into one of these deals a few years ago. By the time I realised my software wasn`t coming, there was no way to contact them.

Treat it as a $50 long shot, if you`re a gambler. (and you don`t need the money)

This is really interesting. I couldn't find anything definate but this looks like pirated software.

They apparently use spam as an advertising technique and sell under a couple of domain names.

Can't find anything definate on google either.
http://www.cdcheap.net <-- same business

And not to mention the URL is meant to be a cheap way to get people that fat finger lycos.com
