Topic awaiting preservation: Got a new job (sort of)! (Page 1 of 1)

It finally happened... life gave me a break!
Let me explain.

2.5 years ago, I left university. I was broke and neede to pay rent, so I picked up a job as a customer service advisor. After 6 months, I was bored outa my brain and asked the big man upstairs if there was anything he could do to keep me on. As luck would have it, there was a new helpdesk opening, and I was invited to build the html based support systems... yes please!

A couple of years passed and although my role was occasionally challenging and often quite rewarding (like being sent to Tennessee & Texas on the company account!), things started to slow down in my head. (I am always looking for the next challenge).

4 months ago, I went for and got another job, in the same company but working back in the old department I started in, this time as a manager. I figured there'd be a year or so of learning before me and it'd be then time to look for then next step.

Seems I was wrong.

After a gruelling couple of interviews, I have just been promoted again, and now I jointly run the account (at an operational level) that I used to be an advisor on... in less than 3 years!

I love how life sneaks up and slaps me in the face once in a while!

The flipside to this story... I get to spend even less time designing stuff.

I don't know exactly why I felt the need to share my news in the first place and I certainly wasn't looking for gratification, although your congrats are recieved with thanks. It's funny. The part of the job I leave behind is the same part that drew me to the Asylum in the first place and it's the first place I thought of coming and letting people know en masse.
