It has to be a simple thing to do. If everything fails, rtfm.

Open file in Infran View... choose "file" >>> "save as" and choose one of about 17 formats.. You can also choose "batch convert/process" in the same drop down menu and convert and entire series of pics in one go that are in the same folder and choose to delete or save the originals too. ACDSEE is an ecellent image viewer too and has loads of useful options. They have a little free version that you can download and use too. Find it in Google.
