I know we've got some big RHCP fans here (me included).

They just released 3 new songs (Fortune Faded, Eskimo, Bunker Hill) on an 'LPish' CD to promote their new Greatest Hits Album. anyways, if you can get ahold of any of these songs, they are REALLY great. They're finally giving up the By The Way sound (which was a good thing, but kinda dull) and going back to some of their Freaky Style stuff.

They've been playing "the chess one" a lot here on the radio, it's pretty cool.

But not Californication / Blood Sugar quality IMO

Prawnstar: I dunno. Bloodsugarsexmagik was a GREAT album, but Californication, I dunno. The reason it tops my list of favorite albums is because it has SOME REALLY GREAT songs. But only about half I'd say. And bloodsugarsexmagik really petered out towards the end, so did Mother's Milk. Freakey Styley (I htink) is their strongest album. By the Way comes in at a close second (No they DIDN'T SELL OUT).

Unfortunatly though, these aren't preceding a new album, just 3 tracks made for a Greatest Hits 2.

I dunno, I really like Cali. some of the songs are REALLY great and some aren't like you say, but Blood Sugar they all seem (to me) to be around the same level of goodness , though the good songs on Cal are better than any on Blood Sugar (IMO) so that'd make Blood Sugar a better album because it's more balanced I suppose.

By the way was good, there are some songs I really like, but then there are some I really don't. I've not heard all of Mother's Milk or Freaky Styley but I hear good things. Usually especially about Mother's Milk though to be honest.

This is their 2nd greatest hits? no? What hits!? being there first. I think.
