Topic awaiting preservation: Getting rid of acrobat reader toolbars (Page 1 of 1)

First of all, I hate acrobat reader. Unfortunately, it's the most common format of document in the Internet, besides html.
So, I have to put up with it.

Does anyone know how to get rid definitely of the toolbars of acrobat reader?
Everytime I access a pdf document, while browsing the internet, acrobat reader is called, as a plug-in of the browser, and all of its toolbars are visible. I can make them all not visible, by right-clicking the toolbars and unclicking them one by one. But then, the next time I load a new pdf file, or even reload the page, the toolbars are all there again, taking space of my window. I can't even decide how I want them, they'll always be in the same formation.

Anyone can help?

Have you tried disabling the toolbars in the main program and then see if it has changed in the plugin as well?

Yes, and it didn't work.
What I will try next is to install a copy of the full-fledged Acrobat (to add more shitty stuff to my computer) just to see if it has a way to control the toolbars and, if so, if it will reflect in the reader plug-ins. But I doubt it will work.
Adobe does shit just like Macromedia. They like to make their shitty applications do what they want them to do, not what the user want it to do (or not to do).

I concur. Which is why i like Corel better. Damn, even microsoft provides more workspace customizability.

I installed Acrobat 6 (full version), and it seems things work fine now. I can choose which toolbar to leave visible and when I load a pdf document later, the toolbars are just like where I left them.
It seems Adobe wants us to pay for this shit to be able to hide the button "Purchase Adobe Acrobat". Morons.
I searched the net for some free pdf viewer for winXp but I couldn't find. So I had to use my imagination.
The downside is that when this shitty program is open, it's wasting 35MB of my RAM. Can you believe it? 35 MB of RAM just to open a pdf file now.
Isn't it a shitty app indeed?

I have just uninstalled my copy of Acrobat 6.
It was using 250 MB of space in my HD (and I installed with the minimum options), it was taking around 30MB of my RAM when running, and it was not working okay. When I opened a second window inside the browser, or refresh the current one, many times it would end in some endless loop, eating 100% of my CPU, without doing nothing.
Bad program, bad bad.
Then, I looked for an old version of Acrobat reader in my old CDs, and I found version 4.05. Installed it, just 7 MB of installed space in the HD, now it uses around 12 MB or RAM when running, and runs almost flawlessly (there is a little issue yet: page up and page down won't work in Firebird, so I configured it to open a separate window of the reader).

Why these big companies are making their products worse and worse as time goes by, instead of making them better??


EDIT: oh, I forgot. Acrobat reader 4 has just one toolbar, instead of two, like 5. So it takes less vertical space. Perfect.
