I've just RX'd a new/old system for the holidays with APS 7.0 on-board. Looks like the second most exciting discovery of my humble life. I've been thrashing around for a while now, and it looks like time to seek guidance. I have a copy of Jack Davis' "WOW" book, but it's a little shy on round-one basics. I would appreciate suggestions for basic, affordable tutorial mat'l geared to the digitally-impaired, with a strong first chapter on file opening and layer managment. Hopefully, the Friskit paper, Exacto knives, and erasers will soon be gracing the pages of E-Bay.

Happy Holidays to all !!

Happy Holidays to you too and welcome !

I would suggest to take a good look at the APS Help Section within the Program. It tells you what all the tool are and a little about what they will do. I don't mean to be sarcastic but it is a great reference tool.

As far as tutorials - you have to be a little bit more specific what you would like to do.

An excellent place to start would be Photoshop Guru's Handbook- Beginners Section.

Needless to say that once you have a handle on things the Doc's Hands On and all the tutorials at the Gurus Network - links are below on this page - are excellent to work on your skills.

Also check in the FAQ's and play play play with the program.

Hope that points you in the right direction!

Hi RuneToons welcome to the Asylum.
I haven't read Jack Davis' "WOW" book so I'm not too sure what level of help you require.
For starters, click on the "Hands On Tutorials" link at the bottom of this page, I found it to be a fantastic help when I first started, and still do!
Next, have a look at the Photoshop tutorials over in the Guru's Network
That should give you plenty to get your teeth into
If there is anything more specific, post back, and let us know how your getting on.
PS
Try typing in the search engine "play, fiddle, learn" or "Warjournal" .....
there be gold in them thar links.

[DOH] sib you got there before me heh, [/DOH]

Gracias, amigos...

The PS Guru site looks really promising. I just browzed thru, and will go check the the other suggestions shortly. The play, play, play advice has been applied liberally (with attending GRR, GRR, GRR factor), but the GEE WHIZ element is winning. Tip o' the cap to the Doc for creating a nice, safe place for the likes of us. I'll be a regular out-patient.

Seems like the big trick will be getting back to the ward in time for medication.

Cheers...

Hey, y'all...

...Thanks for the come-backs. This critter is definitely getting MaxX'd. So many things to experience, so little modem.

sparks, my guess is you're not quite the newbisch you claim (seen your other previous chatter), hope we'll talk more.

voggy, you old boot, keep kickin'.

I had to go check out the "I'll f'n host it" and "Sell your soul". Guess I'm getting older. The kitty was a cute touch, but does anyone know where to get one of those sofa's? I scored a 15.8K on the blue-book soul rating. As Indiana Jones once said: "It's not the years, honey, it's the mileage"

Wishing y'all a happy Y2.004K...

Greetings RuneToons.

I can see from your recent posts that you will fit in real nicely in here. My name is Wolfen, the Asylum Security Guard. I keep an eye on this place. It is good to see a new face in the crowd. I think a nurse should be around shortly to administer your pills, crayons and have you fitted for your 'jacket. Sure the white is ugly, but they are snug and warm for these cold walls. Just make sure that you check out our FAQ link in the upper right, and make yourself a cell.

Feel free to play nice in our forums. I think our unofficial motto is 'Play, Fiddle, Learn.' Also post your work, we like to see what others can do.

Again, welcome to the Asylum.
