Topic awaiting preservation: Tablet errors... (Page 1 of 1)

One of my friends gave me his crapy tablet. it's of "Genius" brand or something like that. I have tried using it at his place and it worked fine.

As having an old Pentium 2 laptop with Win2K...I have an annoying problem..
when I Installed that tablet I was getting an error when Windows loads up:

"The procedure entry point SMapLS could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll" it only leaves me with the option to click "OK"


this error also ocurs when I run any graphic application, such as PS, Flash or Painter. But only in Painter it doesnt let me do anything, no matter how many times I click OK, if I try to do something on canvas , it occurs.

I uninstalled all the software that came with tablet, also the hardware.
nothing seemed to work...

that KERNEL32.dll file was located in System32(didnt want to make anything wrong, left it alone)


I also tried to reinstalling to get some clues, then I noticed at the end of Wizard step it said:

"The installation failed because a function driver was not specified for the device instance. "

anyone has any idea what the hell is going on?

well just right now my mom recieved our new Desktop with 17" LCD blah blah, its pretty darn good computer, and tablet seem to work fine...for now its not such a huge deal...it would be great if I could get rid of that error...

I had a problem on my old system with a .dll file like that - not KERNEL32, but another one. It wouldn't go away until after I wiped the system drive for some reason and reinstalled... (I had a partition at the time, this wasn't as big a deal as you might think). I was never exactly sure what caused the error in the first place, and having simply started all over again, haven't a clue as to what exactly fixed it... Buggered my brain for months, but since everything else worked ok, I tried hard to ignore it... I forget exactly, but I had another reason to wipe the drive and restart... it probably had to do with the motherboard replacement. It's been months ago, and I, too, have a new Dell...
My sympathies with the irritation...

The only solutions I found other than this one were fresh re-installs (after a format) of Windows.

I don't know about this Kernel32.dll file, but I do know that the System Kernel is the central command processor for the OS, so if you've got faults there, you've got bigger problems than a faulty tablet.

DON'T TOUCH KERNEL32.DLL!! YOU WILL KILL YOUR COMP!!

..however, you probably can't anyway...

...all this is saying is that something tried to access the kernel with an invalid handle (think function call but no existing function). Most likely a bad driver...

...try downloading the newest drivers for the tablet.. they've got to be online somewhere..

I'll upload my Win2k pro kernell32.dll if you think it might work ? Have service pack 4 if thats relevant.

I'd just go for a fresh install though, it always runs a little better after a freshy

...or just install Mandrake and build your own driver....

I got Photoshop running on Linux..... runs like a dream....
