I have NO expereince with this type of software. I was just wondering if anybody knows of a good program, or knows of bad ones to stay away from... any help/pointers would be great. Peace. May be the best there is. Sonic Foundry / Sony Acid and Sound Forge. Acid is Sonic Foundry's (Now owned by Sony) loop based tracking tool. Sound Forge is their wave editing software. Both are really good. Adobe Audition / CoolEdit Pro. Probably what I'd recommend for the home user. Excellent wave editing and tracking program ( Was CoolEdit Pro but they were bought by Adobe and the package is now called Audition but it's the exact same program) Propellerhead's Reason: This one is a trip and not for the faint of heart. It's actually more of a music sampling tool with built in software based Drum Machines, Samplers, FX-boxes etc. To stay away from. I may get some static on this but despite it's popularity I'd stay away from ProTools. It's a good program but I don't think it's worth the price and the hardware they sell is crap. It's going to come down to what you want to spend and what you want to do but here's some good ones (mostly for the PC)
