Topic awaiting preservation: An Introduction & Question (Page 1 of 1)

Hey I just registered and I'd like to introduce myself. I'll go by Rekabwerb for now, I'm an artisit/programmer in training. I'd say I have almost better than basic skills in web design, 3ds max, and APS. Photoshop is probably my strongest one so far. I have a very creative mind, (as I'm sure all of you do or you wouldnt be here) and I love computers (who doesnt). So of course the two things met a while back when I was like 13, was into it for a while, then the summer before junior year of high school i picked up a new hobby that took up most of my time. Up until about a month ago when I got PS again and started doing tutorials, got the basics back and expanded a litte. Now I'm back into the art and working on a webpage. Also, im taking a Java course in school to expand the brain even more; I wanna get as good as I can before college. (trying to get into AppState!).
Anyway, I was lookin around for tutorials and such and came across this site, seems like you guys know what you're doing so I joined up on the board. I hope you'll accept me heh, and if anyone has a site that's, how could I say this... the same brainwave as this Ozone dude, I'd love to see it so post a reply. And Ozone or I think I saw that you're Doc somewhere.. anyway your stuff is great, I love sites with style (like www.phong.com).

So with that said, here's my question... I was trying to use a javascript preloader for my website im working on and I wanted it to have a progress bar, but not just a 2 color one, I was wondering how you would go about making a more "artsy" progress bar.

I'm not sure what you mean by artsy - it suggests you have a good idea of what you are looking for. Some thoughts:

1. A few places use an animated gif as a preloader like that.

2. You could have a fancy graphic and then reveal more of it - with a touch of transparency you could make it look interesting.

Anyway just a couple of quick thoughts

[edit: Any you are looking for people on the same brainwave as the Doc?? That could prove tricky - these clever types are on their own personal brainwave ]
