![]() The reason all the things in dmoz.org also appears in Google directory is that Google takes its directory listing from dmoz. So if you want to get listed in Google directory, add your site to dmoz.org. Been considering doing that with my site, but I haven't had the time yet. quote:

![]() Actually DMOZ is signifigant in being an index that many engines used to pull from. Prior to the explosion of google the main databases you wanted your site to be listed in were dmoz and inkatomi. Yahoo, canada.com, hotbot, excite and others pulled mainly from inkatomi with an additon of some of their own indexing algorithms. AOL and its vast web of vile associates primarily pulled their results using the DMOZ index data. As I am no longer a search engine fetishist I am not up on the current engine associations and interactions but you can find all you want to know about those issues at.... http://searchenginewatch.com/ |
