Hello all,

I have a new website to design.. a really cool project that I'm very excited about. Its an "outdoorsy" site and I've been to their premises (27,000 acres!!) and had some beautiful photos taken by a pro.. (I'm in Scotland remember). I also took my own camera and took some macro shots of gravel, tree bark, moss.. just loads of rustic textures etc.

I've got a pretty good idea of how I want it to look & feel, but at this stage of design (ie: blank sheet!) I like to browse the web for inspiration. No copying - just "oooh, thats a nice idea.."

I like to look at good design agencys' portfolios, and my question today is - "who's portfolios do you find inspiring?". Personally, ever since I saw www.blasig.com I have been a fan of Circle Graphics (http://circle.bc.ca)

Who do you like/admire/love/worship ;-) ?

Pete

[edit: Needless to say - Dr Kevin de la Ozone was really a massive inspiration when it came to the power of PS, but I don't really look to his work for inspiration when it comes to corporate-client webdesign work..]

Asside form the usual celebrity design agencies, www.webstandardsawards.com is showcasing some nice work by relatively unknown designers.

handy handy! Nice list. I'm getting ready to redesign my own site, and many of these are very inspiring... Timely question! Anyone got anymore?

This is hardly corporate, but has to be one of the most beautiful executions I've run across in a long time: http://www.24-7media.de/
Just look at it for fun.

Wow - making it to hyperbole's short list is incredibly flattering! Thanks!

The Lana Landis site from 24-7 is one of the most fun sites I've seen in years. =)

Steve: Your site is also on my short list along with Bugs - DL and several others from these parts. =)

Same here! You just gotta love it. I'm so impressed with 24/7 (don't know if it's an individual or a collective). The sites they do are so, I'm not sure what the word is -- cohesive, unified.

^ Fessin' up to being one of the most chronologically challenged of inmates... I was around when 'Cheesecake' - 'The Schnoz' (Jimmy D)...the dial telephone, Viewmaster - Dinah Shore singing "See the USA in your Chevrolet"... were still here...but on the way out.

Agreed. And to expand on the Lana site specifically; An individual (or the 'collective') has, in this (www)VERY new medium, created and presented a vignette very much true to that time.

To your 'cohesive, unified' - I insert 'sublties & nuance'. The 'visuals' - The bottle cap. The Western Union telegraph (I remember my folks recieving those) and tho' it wasn't exactly the same I remember when 'dial' telephones were introduced (in my part of the world.) Before the 'dial' came along you lifted the handset from the cradle of a wall mounted black bakelite box and waited for the operator to say "Number please." ...Your reply: " One one eight three X please." (my first phone #) <lol>

I've not seen another site like it. About the only thing missing was the smell. *o*
Quite simply it is big fun. If you find something akin to well done...'big fun' regardless of time and genre...post up that link =).... and again.... thanx for that one. I've past it on to all my other 'oldies.' <lol>
