Im having trouble with putting a backround image with the width 660px and the hight 470px into my page. It will only extend to the limit of content but I want it to be a backround image and completely up in the left corner using <div> alignment that extends to its limit with any material (I want to be able to scroll but the bg image just stays there). I plan on putting the site in an iframe that is 660 by 470px and the entire backround shows nothing more and nothing less and when I scroll it stays in position while the content moves up and down. |

What? I thought you said you got it working. Then you said "Its a 660 by 470 px .jpg file with no compression. I was wondering why it took forever." You sorta answered your own question there - it takes forever because it's not compressed. Gotta compress it more. |

Heh, for advice on balancing compression with quality in a jpeg, drop into the photoshop forum, assuming you're using photoshop... but most applications provide some sort of slider where you can set the compression from zero to 100; values between 10 and 30 seem to work best in my case. |

A file with those pixel dimensions is going to be a bit hefty no matter what you do to it. If it doesn't have a large range of color, and if the transitions between colors are pretty sharp, you might want to save it as a GIF instead of a JPEG. Don't use MS Image Composer if you've got Photoshop -- that's like shooting spitballs when you've got an AK-47 slung across your back. |

Whoops, my fault. I was assuming 5.5 or 6. PS 4, huh... you might want to search around for a freeware GIF optimizer. I know there are a few, though I haven't researched the topic myself. Anything's likely to be better than MS Image Composer. There's a reason why Microsoft has never attempted to compete in the home graphics market, even down at the Paint Shop Pro level. |
