At the outset I thank you guys for the ticker on the desktop.......It helped me a lot. Though I wanted the source code for a ticker so that I learn how it can be created.....( I would be grateful if u can help me here again......)

I wanted to know if u guys may be able to provide some help to me........
I wanted to track mails send by MS Outlook which are not read by the user or those which have been read. I know MS Outlook does have an option of tracking the mail but the problem is that involves a lot of work.
Can the notification of the mail being read be send to a database which has a list of all names listed and once the mail has been read or deleted it automatically goes and stores itself as a Yes or No in the database .
Can u guys suggest something which may be of help?....
I know I may not be at the right place but yor help will be appreciated.

Thomas,

Neither dhtml nor javascript can do anything with MS Outlook so this question really isn't for this section. If it belongs anywhere in the Asylum then I think it would be in Server-Side Scripting - Oh my!

Doing what you describe is also a lot of work. Don't be surprised if the answers you might get are a bit complicated.

First, understand that if you want to receive tracking options from people outside of your own email system, you're screwed. People can block READ receipts all day long (in fact, it's an option in Outlook XP).

Additionally, if you want, you can store the tracking information with the original sent message in the SENT ITEMS folder, making it much more manageable. But that primarily deals with users on your same email system.

Let me know if you need more assistance and I can document futher.
