Ok this is about the pop-up windows in layers! Yes Bugs knows what I am talking about refering to a previous thread.

Slime: On your website, how did you come up with the color to the border of your windows?

Bugs: By clicking here you can view this little script I finally figured out. When it is maxed, and you wave the mouse over the max image at the top, it goes to a little red x as if it wasn't specifed correctly. How can I fix that?

you can use <div id='xyz'> then document.layers['xyz'].load('http://www.ozoneasylum.com') in NS instead of <iframe src='xxx'>

it would be nicer to turn that into NS too then.

Good for you, InSiDeR! I'm glad to see you're willing to do the grunt work with this stuff. About that red X, it looks to me that restore.gif isn't where the code says it is.

Slime: I left out 2 things. How do I do a transparent bg? And how do I change the scrollerbar size for my windows?

hmm, as usual I dont think slime is reading the forums often...

can anyone else think of a way to do what I asked above?

Well, if you want to get your backgrounds to do what Slime's do then you're in for a bit more work. There isn't just a setting that makes them look that way. Correct me if I'm wrong Slime, but he uses another layer to make it look like it's transparent. He adjusts the location of that extra layer as you drag his windows around the page. I'm sure he can explain it better since he wrote it

Heh, I'm reading much less frequently and more quickly, but I'm here.

Well, let's see... the 1 pixel borders around the windows are actually stretched one-color images. And, as Bugs said, there's no transparency, it's just another background picture, identical to the first one, only darker, positioned to line up with the real background picture, and clipped off at the edge of the windows. It's sort of like this...

only a lot more complicated.

Changing the scrollerbar size is just a matter of changing the sizes and positions of some layers. Resizing the windows is *very* difficult to do. Like, *really* difficult. Don't overwhelm yourself.

Ok ill work on that tonight slime thanks. There is still much to discuss on this thread because I am finally getting my site up, it is www.insidershak.net .... Now my latest and most commen problem! Image rollovers!!!!! ok http://insidershak.hypermart.net/mainpage.html is where i plan to have my site, sort of like urs slime but not with moving links at the top and not with the little blocks moving in the interface. Ok well this time after going to docs pages i have decided to animated my rollovers to make them cooler then before! now i am having some problems with them (for the 3rd time) and i like to test 1 image at a time to make sure they work correctly. And as usual the first one doesnt work correctly so i come here! and since i dont have feel like foiling around with it too much because im lazy, im gonna post this and then go see lord of the rings and then come back! ok bye!

hmmm the buttons hanging over the side of my window in JavaFun are really irritating me how can i fix them!?

Ahah! A break through, I just realized that the reason it is a default gray is because of my computers appearence settings. I changed it to red and then the default was red and everything looked good. Which reminds me of the scrollerbar color changer, do you think there is a script that can change the border of my windows or do I have to use images?

Eh... I clicked on your link, and it *resized my window*. So I (a) got mad, (b) resized the window the way I like it so that the next time I open a new IE window, it doesn't fill my whole screen, and (c) closed the window.

Remove the window resizing script and I'll look again...

yea slime i figured that out to, i am gonna romive it inn a minut....

BUT I FINALLY GOT A BORDER!!!!! I put the images there and everything, but now it has covered up my entire frame so how can I fix that?

ok slime, when you made your windows, how did you make the gif size change when the window was maxed?

edit: nevermind I dont feel like fooling with it, but now, how did you make it so it couldn't drag beyond a certain point?

To keep it from dragging beyond a certain point, you just put in your dragging code something like

if (windows_left_position + windows_width > right_edge)
{
windows_left_position = right_edge - windows_width;
}

and four other things similar to that that keep it within its bounds.

sorry im stupid with this stuff, im suprised at myself for getting this far
