Bugimus,
You wrote a cursor chaser tutorial for GN http://www.gurusnetwork.com/tutorials/dhtml/cursorchaser/cursorchaser.html which I really liked, but one thing confused me at first, and then I figured it out. You computer things compared to the upper left corner of the image (the little ball thing) instead of from the center. Is there a reason for this?

I've spoken to Bugs on a few things and I believe he does have an updating of the GN tutorial in mind. There are a number of tutorials that need updating (for improvements in PS6, Flash MX, etc.). We are moving the tutorials into the database and so once we are done we'll go through them all and see what needs doing (techniques, screenshots for example).

Now I would move this over to appropriate forum for discussion but that is actually in the GN and I don't think that it is possible so I'll go for second best and move it to the DHTML forum here

Been busy as heck the last week. I will hopefully get more time to answer this in detail the next couple of days.

Hmmm... I'm a month late in reply to this and all I can say is better late than never.

When I was first creating the tutorial, I had to decide how detailed I wanted to make it. I needed to write something that stayed close to the basics while at the same time looked decent. I could have added some extra code to make the behavior of the image smoother when it was near the cursor but I felt that was going to be distracting to the reader.

So there is no reason why you can't compute everything from the center of the image. But if you use different image sizes then of course you would want to make the code handle that without too much breakage.

OK, I was just wondering if you overlooked it or had an actual reason.

Well, my primary purpose was to write something that people could take and extend and learn from. I'm not as interested in providing scripts that people use and don't have to think about. There are so many cool things that can be done with javascript than any one person just doesn't have time for. The more you learn the concepts, the more you can think up things no one has done before.
