<edit> Eh Steve? what's that all about? </edit>

Well to get a clue you could always take a look here http://www.ozones.com/simpleworld/html/common/sidenavbar_d.shtml to see how the one and only Doc did it. I suppose that's one of the best ways.

Peter-Paul Koch also has an excellent site covering almost everything you wanted to know about DHTML and the DOM ... http://www.xs4all.nl/~ppk/js/index.html - Between them, PPK and The Doc are just about all the reference info I ever used to get myself re-started.

Re: your display: popdown menus ... go to the PPK site, then pop down DHTML - Practice and select Navigation: display ... in the sidebar menus, and he tells you exactly how he did his sidebars ...

magicaldog: OK the following work (there were typos in all of them):
www.westlb-systems.com - but this is just another example.
www.dhtmlcentral.com/script/search.asp?category=menu - it looks like the new improved version is what you want.
www.milonic.com/menu/ - site seems to have been redone and I can't find the sliding menu in there although some poking aound and pos. registration may help.

I'd recommend you go with the DHTML Central script.
