I still have problems getting my shading to look that nice with the damn tablet... Could be the cheapy one that I have though... One day, I'll have money to actually get a real Wacom.

That is a great sketch I like it....do you have a bigger version??

Maybe you can make a good sig out of that once you color it and you can make some smoke coming out of his nose that forms into the shape of your name. Heh....I wish I could draw like that right now but I'm gonna have to put some practice in again once I start using PS again.

I plan to color it at somestage if I can stop myself changing the perspective in small amounts(compare nasal part, to forhead part, to between the horns). On that note, at forums.sijun.com I remember ages ago before it went through an idiot-dip and I came here instead.. when someone posted line-art/b&w it would be free for anyone to go ahead and color. Seems productive if anyone wants to practise colouring. Could be interesting.

Yea, I dunno if it would make a great sig, if I were makin a sig I do a big ass blocky picture with slow contrasts so it would resize good, make this 20x20 and you got a grey plop. but mebbe.. could use Mahjqa's 'moving clouds' teqhnique for smoke and fire, then stick some displace maps for a water reflection, twould be pretty fancy, twould be like half a megamobyte too :P

Why don't you fix the perspective and use just the head?

Looking REALLY good, but...The hidden part of his face could be bumped forward a bit.

Hmm... the body seems a touch out of proportion to the head... I agree the head itself would make a terrific sig though. Great work. I'm still impressed by your shading...

Another wee update:

I fixed the head a little, not quite fixed yet though and stuck some grey over it to match the body's style.

Some questions:
1. I gotta even the wings, ones far bigger than the other even though the back one is further away.. should I make the front wing smaller or the back wing bigger ?
2. Does the front wing look like a webbed-hand ? .. its supposed to.
3. Should he be A. standing on a crushed bus. or B. standing on his/her huge tail ?
4. The head is looking elsewhere to the body, this isnt gonna change.. too much work, what should he be looking at/chewing ?

oh btw I've purposely not used any dragon refrences because I want it to be original , so its a waste of time telling me he needs scales or something dragon-stereotypical(??), Im thinkin he might stay shiny.

feedback:
1. i think perhaps the far wing should be slightly bigger, longer maybe the closer wing seems to almost brush the ground while the further one seems more up in the air
2. no, not to me anyway it looks more like an elbow, maybe move the thumb back and put some bony knuckles or something on top
3. crushed bus all the way!
4. he could just be looking out off the page doesnt necessarily have to be lookin at anything, his expression looks like he just landed on the bus and is looking around for his next prey.

I'll go with Ezra-D's perspective suggestions... and add one more vote to the crushed bus!

Shiny is ok for dragons... he could just be really vigilant in his moisturizing routine!

Haven't had any time to work on this untill today.

Thought I'd post it @ 1:1 for y'all.
Would appreciate any ideas people my have.
Unfortunatly I still haven't fixed all its problems, but I still gotta paint in color and more texture.
oh and I also made a wee test sig out of it.

Hopefully I'll get to it at somestage takes time ya know :P should get some more time tomorrow, not sure if that'll be the next thing I do anywho. I plan on having another lightsource somewhere so I dont wanna fill it with objects just yet. I have no idea as to whats goin in the background, mmh Bryce could come in handy , heh (nah).

Great work Hugh, I love the way (as an observer) I can see the development of the dragon. You have a great talent.

It looks like you put a whole lot more work into the head and neck than you put into the body or tail. I think you can keep going with this one. I want to see this come out perfect.

WarMage, very true, its because I was able to think of details for the face not the body.
Here another update:

I'm getting bored of this though, the dragon is lifeless no matter what backdrop I give it it will look like a strange statue, no motion at all. Also I've given him like an over saturated indoor lighting which is kinda crap looking. The way I postitioned the wings should cast shadow all over its body. I dont really like it anymore.

I might do another update...

I like the color you gave it. Nice. Yeah, take some time and work on something else for a few days. Maybe you'll get inspired and come back with renewed interest...

I like it though... the bus is a nice touch!
