Very minimal - I think with a bit more practice we could get the questions trimmed down to some kind of Zen-like simplicity.

It's been a while, and this *may* be out of context, but I still think I got it...

Almost Haiku Master Suho almost ..

you may have invented a new form in poetry ... I know .. we could call it a Fakyu ...

Reflected light not wanted
You do
I can't ...

but I guess the ultimate expression of the art form would be

... How ? ...

or even just

... ? ...

Let's not go too far down this road please. I really don't want to see a return to a not too distant time.

trib: just curious, but what do you mean by "almost"? Because it's not in Japanese?

Too heavy for me Master Suho ...

I dunno, I'm not really knowledgeable about these things ... The whole thing was a bit of a tongue-in-cheek comment, not really intended to be taken seriously, especially by a lingust and scholar like yourself ...

(edit - Whoops .. I goofed ... 3 columns of 5 7 and 5 .. not two ... and there was the almost ... I forgot the first line existed, and wondered why you put it in there ... !!! ... dohhh!)

edit ... THIS ENTIRE NEXT PARAGRAPH TURNED OUT TO BE MISINFORMED BULLSHIT ... I'm getting old !! ... (so I deleted it)

a hasty response ...
so commentator regrets
foolish oversight

As English has slightly less expressiveness per syllable than, say, Chinese, that actually makes English haiku more challenging and, when done right, more satisfactory. It's all the poor English haiku that give the form a bad name.

Really good hai-

trib: don't worry, I wasn't taking things too seriously. I was just curious.

PT is right, though. It is very difficult to write Haiku in English because the words tend to have more syllables. I don't usually write haiku seriously because, to be honest, I don't think it can be properly done in English. The fact of the matter is that the haiku form was designed for the Japanese language, not English. I don't see people trying to write hyangga* in English.

I suppose it is possible to crank out a passable haiku, but I just don't have the skill for that. They're sometimes good for a laugh, though.

funny that.
somehow, haikus are pretty easy in german... must be that gazillion words we can make by combining other words...
I'd guess you could even make a haiku that was only three words ;-)
