Topic awaiting preservation: Some Pointers... (Page 1 of 1)

Ok the company I work for had me make an ad for the next years Ride To Work Day. It is a not for profit org to get people to ride motorcycles. In that spirit I made this ad - http://www.ridetowork.org/index2.html What I need to do is remake some of the tribal for the frontend of the website, to replace this http://ridetowork.org/. Which means making parts of the Tribal itself into various links. But I want to keep the overall effect of the banner. Where should I add appendages to the black parts? Or should I just make several 'plaque' things to keep the overall consistant. This of course is a PS image, and at the moment has nothing to do with the web. Any ideas would help, im stuck.

A "Tribal" is the motocycle right?

Ok, the solution to making various parts clickable has nothing to do with Photoshop. What you need are image maps! These are polygonal areas that redirect to a new page and you can have many all in the same image. If you broke the bike up it would be square images or lots and lots of very small graphics. Here is a rather technical image map page. If anyone knows a better one, please post it.

Btw, what is up with the 2003-2004 Copyright? *Checks calender* Nope, still 2003!..

I think you should begin by increasing the size of your image, otherwise it will be way too small to put your links on it. When it'll be bigger, you will be able to divide the black parts in different links... To achieve this, use Paint Shop Pro. The software will create the HTML page with the coordinates, thus making the hard job.

actually I wasnt needing HTML help. Sorry Id hoped I wasnt all that confusing in my explaination. What I needed was some ideas on graphically, where I should add more spaces to 'later' turn into an image map. Although, my webguy will end up doing that. But he needs more spots to add the 14 links. And tribal part is the solid black graphic in the background behind the rose. All that I really need a little pointer on is say where I should add on to it. So as not to make it ugly or over done, graphically. Keep in mind too that it needs to remain in the Arena of tattoo art. Not fine art.

If this is the kind of thing you mean,
I have to say that they`ll probably not make good buttons. Most people will never look for hot links there.

Perhaps a small nav bar underneath the image ?
