I don't know, man. Ever since I wrote Reflection Maps for Moth, my head has been ringing. The ringing has been there for some time, but it got really loud all of a sudden after those 9 pages. Something is going on, and I can't quite articulate it just yet. The material that I have been tackling isn't exactly different, but my approach is definitely changing. I think, and hope, it's for the better.

Over at other forums, somebody asked a question. I came up with an answer. I could have written either a long ramble or a single page on Tech-Slop to cover my technique and called it good. Yeah, I could have done that.

Bugger!

So far I have written 3 really quick-n-sleazy pages and I still have a lot more to say. By the time I'm done, the 3 pages that I have will be much beefier and there will be at least 2 more pages to go with that.

Raise

I've got a lot to think about. Not just the material at hand, but this other thing in my head.
I'll figure it out one of these days.

I applaud your discoveries wj... very nice exploration.

Keep it up! You're evolving, that's all. Don't fear it, embrace it.

Sweet work. Especially if you lack a 3D program!

Evolving? That's a nice way of putting it. Having given it some more thought, I think more along the lines of indignation pushing me to the breaking point - again. Looks like I'm going on the warpath again. Grrr! Rarrr! Hooga chucka, hooga chucka.

~puts on some war paint, picks up a spear, and runs for the hills~

Some day I'll write a long rant about these things.

Looks like I'm going to be giving that tutorial a serious break. Not just to mull things over, but because I'm going to be in charge of 4 kids. Warjay: the rampaging nice guy.

See ya'll on the farside of next week.
Although, I'll be sure to peak in on you kids.

What is the most interesting by your techniques (besides your expertize) is the sort of backwards thinking needed to realize the d-maps... and the simplest elements used (the gradients) to acheive your goals! thanks again for making us move our brains instead of relying on push button approach...
