We have been throwing colors and textures around and I think we havent really come to a good combination as of yet! We want it to look like its for cars. We want it to be technical looking yet simple. You guys and gals on this board are all awsome with photoshop and I was wanting your opinions on what we could do to make it look "BAD ASS" you could say. I'm still learning with photoshop and the type of messageboard we have. If you have any textures or really goo dideas please show me so we can make our board look good.

We All Like Black and Blue so if you can please try and use these colors but any ideas will be taken into consideration and tried!

I have two suggestions... Get rid of the Times New Romans Font. You see it every day, so might as well look at something nicer... This site uses Veranda (sp?). Secondly, put a color for the inverse bevel on your scroll bar... just black against a black background doesn't look too nice. Interesting concept on the banner, but I think it needs something else...

[EDIT: The logo looks nice on the main site... maybe some shine and a little bevel to make it look like a black, smooth metal? An get rid of the jaggies!]

This is just a quick concept I in a few mins so the quality might not be as it should. But one could make your headline banner more like an imports bonnet/hood. Perhaps with a Front Grill maybe even adding lites etc.. But Maybe it will give you some ideas. Perhap a real photo replacing the front ornament.



Now that I think of it, Maybe go even simpler with just a grill




I would also use Veranda as suggested and change your color skem to avoid the purple. Make the links blue and the text a light to medium gray. It will make it easyer to read. I wouldn't suggest white type as it makes it to harsh on the eyes.

I have something to say: blue on black text is incredibly hard to read. So is purple on black. Up the contrast please.

suggestions on color combos please im not very good with that king of thing yet. im very new to this type of stuff and im starting my associates in webdesign in two weeks so i will be better very soon i hope. thanks.

Oh...and the font's Verdana, not Veranda, unless a font can be described as shading the front and/or back of your house with an overhanging roof :P

Just make the text brighter and easier on the eyes. Personally, I think light grey text would look good on an automotive site, but pretty much anything will work better than #0000FF

how about silver #c0c0c0? would that work on the black background?
would anybody be willing to throw some modified logos at me? like the smooth black metal one with the bevels cause im nto hardly any good at photoshop yet im still learning. i start photoshop class in two weeks! thanks.

sorry, this doesnt go with the phbb thing but i'd just like to say that generally any website that has a black background doesnt look very nice.

especially with times new roman. try a sans serif font. like "veranda," heh heh.

Jon_Cherba: I think your first problem is getting your design right before you get around to hacking the forum code. I'd suggest you build a simplifed test page to get a better idea of the colours, etc. You can find help wih the colours here (we highly recommend ZOX's colour wizard):

would this logo cost me anything cause i hjave no money at all. i'm jobless at the moment as well. you guys might want to go and checkout the board now i changed some colors around. anybody that knows how to customize the look of the board with the files that are included in the theme or template packs please let me know i need some info on this cause the boards and websites i have been to are not helping me much. thanks.

Ive noticed on a few sites that they have used Courier for that avante gard look. Something to consider. Looks to me like your still using the Times New Roman. Arial is a better choice as well.

let me know what you think of this version of our board www.importconceptz.com/board it is still being worked on but it should be done in a week or so! yes this is a car club website. im not gonna mess with the board looks anymore right now. we are working on the version above as fast as we can so we can get ti up and running asap. we are not sure when it will be done but i think it looks really good. thanks.

I think you mean the "very-hard-to-read-but-we're-too-cool-to-use-a-proportional-font" look

Looks much better, though you may want to change the icons color and such, you know, just to make them suit.

not a bad logo except i cant read the importconceptz across the middle. but i do like the look. i think we have the one we want to stick with though. thanks for the cool graphic though. i appreciate all the people who have given graphics and suggestions. anybody here goo dat making stickers for cars. if so please show me ideas for them so we can get some made. we would be wanting some window banners and little stickers for the sides or somethin. could someone make a design or two for business cardsa we have a few very simple single color cards. i dont know where the pics are though. trhanks again.
