Hi everyone. Im wondering if you all can help me with a photoshop problem. All of a sudden, when I click on the little paint window on the bottom of my tool box, my color picker activates and photoshop locks up. The software doesnt crash, it seems like it activates something that i can't get out of. Then i have to re-start the program. I have tried dumping my prefrence file. Im on a Mac G3 blue and white running 9.2.2 im using PS-6 . A friend told me about this forum and said you all are the best. Ive been everywhere looking for answeres. Anyone

I'd just go with a reinstall if it were me.

I'd guess it's displaying some window outside your screen...

Tried deleting its properties file (tm)*?

so long,
TP

*I never owned a mac and don't even know what a properties file looks like... but still, it's what the back of my mind says might help

I'm not sure what you mean by "the little paint window". Could you be more specific about which button you are using exactly?

I've seen similar behavior to this, but it had to do with multiple windows. If that is the case, then TP is on track. I've seen people have something like layer styles or another palette moved to another monitor and then they had to disconnect the second monitor but the palette wouldn't move back onto the main screen where they could get at it. If you click that button, does hitting the Escape key resolve the problem? Are there any messages that come up? It would really help to know the exact button.

You could try deleting your preferences file for photoshop and see if that helps. As you are launching Photoshop hold down the command + option + shift keys to clear your prefs.

What revision of PS are you using? 6.0? 6.01? 6.02? etc.

More info = better answer

Thanks for the replies. The little window im refering to, is the pallet window on the bottom of the tool pallet. The one you click on to open the rgb color wheel.

I tried installing the software and the same thing happened.

I am running dual monitors, but cant find the color wheel. The odd thing is, when i click on the color pallet the tool selection changes and the pixel picker tool is highlighted, then the program just defaults to -something- and i cant get any of the functions back. This is real puzzling. I have changed monitor screens around. There are no warning screens. I have dumped my prefrences to no avail. Im at a loss here. version is 6.0. Thanks for the help

Fixed it.
Thanks mindbender for the monitor clue. I just moved my studio around after i upgraded to a G4. I run dual monitors with my computer on the left.

I had to move the computer to the right for space. I also run a 15 inch for my pallet window with the dual set up. SO- i switched the monitors around and i guess the color wheel followed the monitor, but since i switched start up screens the pallet somehow got lost. Anyways thanks for the monitor mention you just saved me from a week of pulling my hair out. Nice forum you have here, a good find. Out of turmoil comes something sweet. Thanks again

Yeah, it took me a while to get PS set up properly when I ran two monitors, but, oh, it was worth it. And at the time, I had software for Win98 that allowed for two pointers and since I'm left handed, the intuos on the left and the mouse in the right hand gave me a little taste of heaven...

Ah yes... this is all the problems due to Macintoshes. The root of all evil!

[And yes I'm gonna get smacked around for this one...]
