Topic awaiting preservation: cropping images (Page 1 of 1)

hi all,

i'm working on a flyer for a club and there's a person that i want to remove from an image. how do i crop just that person's silhouette from a photo?

Well that depends on if you want a gaping great hole where the person once was or if you what a nice seamless composite.

I would suggest the later, I would look at using the clone Stamp, Heal, and Patch tools of course you will also need backgorund to clone and lots of pratice.

Y'know, sometimes I wonder if Emps reads a thread before he posts...

He reads them. It's just that he's been forced to grant autonomy to his fingers in order to do 12 things at once. His fingers have evidently typed a reply without the knowledge of his eyes.

ouch. Hopefully his eyes will catch up with his fingers, otherwise he's going to have a lot of post-posted editing to do.

I love the crop tutorial. I kind of jumped the gun and handed it out once while it was still in the approval bin. So, is /technique/crop.html it's final home at The Golden Mean?

And, Steve, TGM breaks something awlful in my IE 6. I'll e-mail you cap in the next few days.

Raptor: I'm sorry you have to understand that I don't know an awful lot about Photoshop - they asked about cropping and so I thought I'd try and help in some small way. I'm still unsure but I assume that what they were enquiring after is a different kind of cropping or isn't technically called cropping or something (or did I make an amusing typo?).

wj: It will eventuall be at the GN under /tutorial/crop/ but as it is awaiting approval (which it nearly has) it is under /approval/tutorial/crop/ - hope that helps. Its why I only linked to the thread in the forum

The former latter (if that makes any sense). It was the original poster's folly, for sure. The technique described sounds more like an extraction. Followed by massive repair (it sounds as if she/he wants to pull a person from the picture, and make it look like the person was never there).

Oh you all have done already. As I was telling Weadah the other day I was looking througha CD where I had some old graphics stored and they were dreadful. I came here in the first place because I wanted somewhere that focused on code and graphics and while I'm still terrible at this kind of thing I have certainly come along way (big thanks must go to ZOX for his colour wizard). So thanks for taking a poor graphically challenged coder under your collective wings ~sniff~

wj: Hell no - the CD has already been sent to the International War Crimes committee in the Hague where they will encased in concrete and drop into the North Sea where they can't trouble mankind any more.

Anyway all that would happen in a group hug is that there would be an outbreak of ass grabbing followed swiftly by slapping with wet fish so its probably for the best
