i believe Tao's "look" is authentic...I personally feel much photoshopping has been done by our friends at NASA

Funny, I didn't notice those letter shaped structures the first time I seen this image. Nice job Tao.

And on that note, how do we know those pictures of mars are really real. Wouldn't be too hard to fabricate, would it?

Ramasax: I've posted the URL of someone who found the " Evidence that NASA is altering the true colors of the pictures of Mars " in the JPL Spirit Rover on Mars thread. There's some photoshoped version of the Spirit images that look like a landscape seen on Earth ... but it's not quite surprising. The surface of Mars is made of dust and rocks, so I suppose that except the colors it looks like any desert on Earth.

I guess I'm the only dink that will critique the image itself...heh.

Tao: Firts off, I love it. Cute idea, well executed....aside from lighting and shadow. The terrain would be more sloped, rounded off, so your shadows can't fall flat in perspective to the viewer. Bevel them..hell use spherize if you must. That would help a lot.

Then look at the plane of horizon...the OZNE would cast much lighter of a shdow due to the distance back that it must be on the plane (assuming the letters are of equal size).

More in depth? Nah, just a couple things that would give this just a bit more punch. Fun image, nice work.

Taobaybee: The shadows seem too long and sharp, and would need a bit of displace to match the bumps of the ground.

Thank you DarkGarden,
I must admit that I was just "lashing" together the image for a laugh, a bit of trickerypokery. On reflection i have to agree with you that even though it is "just for laffs", that is no reason for me to be lacking in technique for a better finish.
I'll go have another play with it. I'll try your suggestion too poi.
