What are the best plug-ins and where is the best place to get them? And if there are any other programs out there that make nice abstract and lighting effects please share. Thank you for your time.

Sorry I can`t be much help here, as I`ve never felt the need to use plug-ins. To the best of my knowledge there is nothing you can do with a plug-in that can`t also be done with Photoshop`s native tools. Building the effects yourself also avoids the canned look plug-ins are so famous for.

Hey uber,

I tend to agree with bob, you can do most of the stuff that filters do with the standard tool set.

But filters can do some cool things, and save a lot of time.

I think my favorite set of filters is from Flaming Pear. They have some really cool filters. http://flamingpear.com/index.html

Other more popular ones are KPT (read Kai's Power Tools), and Eye Candy. I don't know their websites off the top of my head though.
