Um, hi guys! I haven't been here in a very long time, but collectively this is such an amazing resource that I had to bother you guys with a question. The Asylum rocks.

At any rate, I bought a Wacom Graphire3 tablet today, and I've been playing around with it. Problem is, I can't get the brushes to respond properly to pressure in Photoshop 7. It seems like everything is configured properly, but here's a screenshot of the brush properties dialogue.

Now, I have no problem with the stylus and its pressure sensitivity in Illustrator CS, but the only versions of Photoshop I own are 5.5 and 7.0. I don't have CS, but I know for sure that the pressure should work in 7 nonetheless. Can anyone tell me what I've done wrong?

Thanks so much. This tablet is hopefully a major step for me, and I really appreciate any help.

hmm .... have you installed the drivers ...
it's just that my wacom works fine without em but
in ps i couldn't get pressure to work without drivers
either

or if you have ... then maybe download the latest drivers
from wacom.com and reinstall them ...

Zap, Kapow, have a look at the suggestions I received with a similar problem Here and there may be some useful stuff in the results from an advanced search using the term Graphic Tablet

:::tao::: ::cell::
[edit]sorry, I've just tested the "Graphic Tablet" link and found it takes you straight to the Advanced Search, rather than the results of the search I did using the seach terms "Graphic Tablet". Still, type in your query there while if you have not managed to fix it yet. Sorry I can't be of more help [/edit]

Now again PS7 boots up without my wacoms sensitivity working, its annoying but closing and reopening PS always works for me, I never really figured out the problem, but it happens less if my wacom is turned on when PS is loading.

Anywho.. anychance you want the pressure to change the opacity rather than its size ? If so, see "Other dynamics" in your screenshot.

In your wacom settings in control panel (or mac equivelant) you can set different characteristics for different software namely PS, could be where your problem is, possibly. If theres is no wacom config then you probably need to install/reinstall the drivers, get the latest off the website.

Hey, thanks for the replies, guys. Thanks for the search, Tao! I was kind of discombobulated yesterday and didn't think to actually search. :P The drivers are installed, and I'm pretty sure I got the latest ones.

It seems that it was all a glitch that I can't figure out. Right now it works fine, but if I switch programs and use the pen in another program, sometimes it won't work right when I go back to Photoshop. Or, if I change a tool setting or something in Photoshop, the pen won't work. No pressure sensitivity, and the eraser works just like a brush. I'm not sure exactly what triggers it, but as of now it's working fine most of the time.

Just an oddity I guess!
