I doubt something like that is possible without using server side programming. Those kind of files are usually set by the user to be viewed by the browser, so when the browser receives the file's MIME type it won't think about it and just display it. If you instead could somehow send a different MIME type using javascript it might be possible. So the answer would be that as longs as the browser (or a similair program) is set to view those kind of files by default there is nothing you as the web designer kind do about it. |
