Is there a way with html to force a jpg to trigger a download dialog instead of displaying in the browser. I also have a Tiff and a psd, that trigger Quicktime view that I need a solution to, which I am hoping will be the same solution.

I guess javascript would also do.

You could just zip them.

But yeah, that's a good question.

*waits for the answer*

I though about zipping them but don't know what the client machine is on the other end. Mac or PC I guess I could do both but I want is as simple for the users as possiable as I don't know how internet savy they are as they are not my client I am just making the transfer.

I doubt something like that is possible without using server side programming. Those kind of files are usually set by the user to be viewed by the browser, so when the browser receives the file's MIME type it won't think about it and just display it. If you instead could somehow send a different MIME type using javascript it might be possible. So the answer would be that as longs as the browser (or a similair program) is set to view those kind of files by default there is nothing you as the web designer kind do about it.

I guess this is sort of similiar as the zip thing, but you could also change the file extension to
something different, and then have the client re-change the extension to .jpg when he/she
uploads it. Not sure what exactly you need this for, but just thought I would mention it.
