I was wondering if anyone knew why when I search on google for a particluar phrase
that I know is in a story of mine, the page with that phrase does not show up?

If you will notice, it appears that Google for some reason is not picking up a bunch of the
document info. from my stories.

For instance, if I search in google for

See there is no real answer that anyone outside of google can give you (an prolly most in google would have no idea either). It would have to do with the google algorithm not giving any weight to those key words.

But all in all I don't think I or most could be of help. You might want to find a search engine related forum and ask there.

GN: Some thoughts:

1. Trying to look up your site for certain keywords can prove frustrating and a pain (esp. if you can't find them).

2. It seems to have indexed only a selection of your pages - it might have you on the list "Come back later and do a proper index someday but you know how quickly the Internet is growing".

3. All the pages it has in the cache seem to be those with poor navigation and point on to other sites or are dead ends. It seems possible that the Googlebot is getting in and then either disappearing somewhere else or haivng to back track. Make sure each page has full navigation - it also makes your site look more consistent and is easier to maintain).

4. Don't try and second guess the mind of a women and that goes doubley for search engines and their wiley ways.

If that was me I'd install proper navigation on my pages and then see how that works - I'd also try and get other people to link to the different pages so the Googlebot can sneak in at various points in your site.

BTW, those hidden links may turn away some engines, which ignore pages with with words formatted to appear the same color as the background. (A result of people "hiding" lists of hot keywords in an attempt to get listed.)

But Emp's, what do you mean by proper navigation?
As far as I know, my site is pretty easily navigatable.

GN: Quite a few of those links from the Google page go to pages without the same navigation as the rest of the site:

I don't think that is the problem but...........

It might be something else - like you having a low PR and so Google may not index your site fully (esp. pages with no externl links).

As I said I can't see anything obvious so try tweaking things a bit

I didn't think that made any sort of difference.

The only pages I really care about are the ones with my stories. I am going
through them and taking out the hidden links. Thanks Wes
