I just picked up a client who requires an eCommerce solution and not just an 'about us' page!!! |

Dufty: What kind of server-side scripting do you have available to you? There are now some great easy to instal and (in some cases) free packages availabel like. osCommerce. which should make your life much easier: |

Dufty: It should cut a lot of time out of your development time - using this combined with PHP/MySQL should greatly reduce the cost to the client - which makes them happier too and more likely to pass your name around to anyone who asks. Feel free to post the previews here or in the 'Site Reviews' section. |

phpShop is also a good alternative. I have used it before and it is easier to customize I think. Everything is run through 1 PHP file which makes things less cluttered. I like it a lot! Only problem with phpShop I really had is that it only allows you to add one product at a time. I had to use phpMyAdmin to upload a database for it. Also, I had to change some sloppy code. But you can add modules for PayPal (or write your own), and Authorize.net. osCommerce takes quite a bit longer to customize though. |

for 30 or so products that shouldn't be a problem, right? |

Looks at Dreamhost's Strictly Business plan, it includes Miva Merchant which should be way past adequate for 30 items. Sounds like a static inventory? All you'd have to do in addition is take care of the credit card services merchant account thingie and you'd have what you need there. The support staff is easy to get along with on this stuff too, very helpful. |
