I just started making a site for my personal portfolio. I wanted to know what everyone thought of the layout. www.skatefx.com/portfolio/

Thanks in advance!

hehehe... Ya need to define the background color. I have my windows setup so the default is not white, but a light blue... I am really surprised at how MANY webpages do not define a bg color.

It looks pretty slick in IE6... I have no content in NN4.7... just a gray box where the text once was. You may have already considered that... dunno... A lot of people still use nn4.7 because 6 was such a hog... but its not really *that* many people.

Lets see some content! As far as that goes, I would like to see some typography mixed in there with that text..... Twitch wrote up someting good about that i think.

The page itself looks pretty good. I am not sure that I like how the text is blocked off like that, with the Header in one block and then the content in another block. I don't know, something just kind of bugs me about that. Could just be my mood today

I am not sure what font you used for the links but you could do with a different one maybe, like izzay said.

I dig the background, very cool.

I don't know about this --->

quote:
- Disclaimer

The contents of this site do not display my full potentials. All websites and some graphics are designed to the customers taste and have nothing to do with my methods of design.

Sounds a little strident. Then again it could just be my mood today.

~~This may be a little strange, but do you know an Ed Cavallo?~

Typography.

Typography.

Typography.

Big Bold text is bad.

Spelling.

Think about reworking your colours.

Kill those horrid default link colours.

Preload your mouse overs.

You don't really need to title an Introduction.

Ditch the Disclaimer.

It's to high for an average 800x600 browser window.

None of you colours show up in opera 6. Which I think actually look better. But that's just me.

The background didn't show in Mozilla.

It breaks big time in NN4.x

I'm liking the background image but the content being tucked away in little coloured boxes with nice neat outlines it not sitting well in my stomach. Just so you know, I had a lot of eggs for breakfast.

Why are you using an I-Frame? You really don't need to use it. Furthermore, It's hurting your design. Leave the scroll bar on the side of the browser window, it looks rather unsightly sitting off centre on a screen.

Oh and one other thing. It's a portfolio site not your personal site. So clients or potential employers may be looking at it yes? If it doesn't work in NN4.x, you won't get work. So make it work.

Was that harsh? I'm sorry if it was. I'm in a kinda stinky mood and don't want to re-type it.

Oh, I forgot...

"All websites and some graphics are designed to the customers taste and have nothing to do with my methods of design"

Actualy, that has everything to do with your methods of design. Unless you want to say:

"Get me to design your stuff and it wil be good. But if you want anything in particular and it turns out crap then it's your fault."

And that really won't wash with clients or employers.

Well, at least that's how I read it...

Edit: just general pooey stuff....

Thanks guys.

Hey Cprompt, Ed Cavallo is my father! Do you know him? wow small world. Im gonna work on the site and make some changes tonight. Ill post with the results.

All the text was just there for now as a test, it wasnt final and half of It I didnt plan on being up there anyways.

Hey Drac, why dont you think I should use the Iframe? Is thats whats stopping it from working in netscape?

SkateFX, no I don't know your father. I just got an email from him (or an Ed Cavallo) that had a virus attachment. Don't know if this is your father or not but it can be a nasty virus.

I emailed him telling him that he had the virus and how to fix it. I am going to check the email address again.

Hope that wasn't him

Yep. I-Frames don't work in NN4.x

That and if the viewabul area of the browser window is not big enough to view the whole I-Frame you have to keep frigging with two scroll bars just to scroll one page.
