sidez: Welcome. Some thoughts:

1. I really like the graphic on your splash page and I'm not sure why it is required.

2. It is also a little tall for 800x600.

3. I don't see the use of telling people what browser and screen resolution to use (I am curious as to why you have IE5 and Op6 there - what about Op5 and NS6. I've just upgraded from Op5 and have yet to notice any serious changes but I am interested to know if you've found any).

4. As your splash page implies the page is too wide in 800x600 and I can't really see any reason why it can't be made more liquid.

5. You use an iframe. Its an interesting use but it does cuts out anyone not using an up to date browser (but you know your user stats better than I do so that might be acceptable). There may be another way of doing something like that (have a look at Weadah's Flash Dribble - it would work in a similar fashion and have more cross-browser support). If you are going to use it then I don't think this will work for people without iframe support (although I'm not sure and you wouldn't be using it if you hadn't checked it):

quote:
<iframe bgcolor="#000000" src="/fosho/viewshoutbox.php" width="231" height="302" frameborder="0"><br>
<font color="#FFFFFF"><br>
<a rel="nofollow" href="/fosho/expanded.php"><br>
View the shoutbox</a><br>
It appears that your browser does not support Iframes. Click the above link to
view it</font> </iframe>

Pos. something like noframes (is there a noiframes?) or use layer and nolayer tags (the latter around the iframe).

6. You need keyword and description metatags.

7. I'd use more CSS as you still have font tags, bold tags and <br> for vertical spacing. e.g.:

quote:
<font size="2"><b>AFFILIATE : RE-ORGANIZING : <font size="1">11:19 - Wednesday, 13.Feb.2002 by zed</font></b></font>

8. In fact as you are excluding older browsers I'd recommend you think about a CSS-only layout.

9. I do like your graphics (lets see you in PSPong!!) but if you are going to open the ones from your pixel page open them in a custom web page (rather than just opening the jpg) and style it and offer a next graphic/close window feature.

Overall I really like the look and feel although there are a few implementation issues I have (page size, iframes) and some of the code could be tightened up but it is really good work.

Wow, that's A REALLY LONG REVIEW
Thanks

Well, its a personal page aimed at Webdesigns at large..
So, the resolution and browser wise, isn't much of an issue yet .. Most of them use IE at have res above 1024x768

Opera5, didn't manage to get to use it.

Splash page, well.. hmm.. well, to give the visitor an early preview of my site...i guess

is there a noiframe tag?... cause i've check the site using netscape 4x, and it shows the non-iframe contents

The news part, I can't really get the css on cause its generated from a php script.

Thank for the tip on the pixel section, I'll look into it.

Well, gotta give the props for giving a detailed review, for once...

I'll get into it asap. Btw, I'll be releasing a new site very soon called DesignerArena.com
The domain is already up, if you wanna view it.

sidez: Well I'm glad you liked the review!!

As long as your aware of the browser and screen resolution issues then in the end it is your site!!

That is an interesting thing for iframes and it is duely noted and you can guarantee I'll be mentioning it here a number of times!!

I checked out you other site - which for lazy people is here; www.designerarena.com
but there isn't much there - I look forward to seeing it when it is up and running.

Oh and if you are going to hanging around here or a while get your site on the Asylum ring (I keep forgetting to mention that).

One thing:

It should be doable or at least I can't think of a reason why you shouldn't be able to do that. Feel free to cut and paste in the offending code if you like.

I'll be hanging round here for a while...
Still new so I'll be lost at some part...

Could you give me an example for the css styleing.. like <a style="#stylename">word</a> for the news part you quoted

D.A should be up by the end of the week, and its a corporate site, so it'll be carefully coded and stuff...

sidez: I wasn't just refering to the news (I think the example came from the main page) although that would be perfect for a non-table layout as there are no columns. For a good intro to CSS see:
http://www.gurusnetwork.com/tutorials/css/cssintro/cssintro1.html

For CSS only layouts see:

1024x768 on IE 6/XP causes a small vertical scroller on the splash page. For like 2 pixels. I've got the small buttons set on my toolbar as well. Why not just turn the scrollers off on this page?
