Preserved Topic: How do you visualize the Asylum? (Page 1 of 1)

While I was trying out an idea for the "addiction" sig contest. (My sig was going to be the east tower of the Asylum, where my cell is located, from the outside, because this place is an addiction for me. Though i like to think of it as more of a Symbiotic relationship)
I got to thinking... .... I wonder how anyone else imagines it, if at all, both inside and out?
I, for example, sometimes imagine a semi gothic semi deco feel located in the mountains perhaps perched on a mountain, yes., as you may be able to see a touch of that in the initial sig.
Do you imagine at times what the Asylum might look like? What the cellar is like deep in the bowls of the mountain?
I am planning to make an image to show here, and I have been searching the net for inspiration. I would like to hear your thoughts or suggestions. Has this been done before?
I also think it would be interesting, if you have any ideas on how you visualise the Asylum to be, that as well as telling me about them, you could also make your own, and post it. I would love to see my fellow asylumites visualisations. Of either the inside or outside.

I never thought of it as an actual place... but now that I think of it... I imagine it as a large white, one story building with double thickness styrofoam walls and depressant syrenges outside every dorm.

Seems I recall several 'conceptuals' of the Asylum surfaced in 'Repeat Performance' aka 'Make it.' Post'em up people! =)

Interestingly enough, I've always thought of the Asylum as a one-story building as well. One story above ground, that is... the basement runs deep into the roots of the earth...

I have also thought of this place as a one story above ground building. All white with darkened windows. Guarded by a barbed wire fence with a security station out front. *ahem.*

I am only using this composite image as a guideline, a visual aid. I'd never thought of the Asylum as a one storey bld', thanks for the input. I have given myself to the end of the year to come up with a finished piece of work on this so plenty of time to play with ideas.
I'd love to see if there are any examples of the "repeat performance"works.

I always imagined it as a gray concrete, Russia-style, 3 or 4 story building with about 5 stories underground. Bars on the windows but a nice white interior.

I figgure there are lots of little jewels inlayed in the dank dark hallways.... thats it! the asylum is composed of dank dark green gooie hallways.... but anyhow, there are jewels that glow, and when i poke 'em they turn off and others turn on... like something else... i just cant place.

You guys have way too much free time.

I always thought of it as an old grey stone complex, kind of like an old castle retro fitted with electricity in the late 30's and abandoned some time during WWII -- lots of crude and exposed wiring, ageing and flickering bulb lights struggling to light the endless hallways and cells. Levels/floors/stories never factored into it (except for maybe the basement, but I never see stairs), the image in my minds eye is almost maze like. Lots of dark and dimly lit hallways, a spattering of bared windows. Damp moss covered walls and some of the cells are constantly flooded ever so slightly with slick grimy ooze. At places where the sunlight does reach the insides of the complex the view of the outside world is usually obscured by a mad tangling of vine growth as none has ever been outside to prune the gardens, but occasionally a butterfly some obscure beetle or lizard will find it?s way much to the amusement of the inmates...

*shrug* I have a vivid imagination. =)

I always pictured it as a website - dark blue background, big orange logo, kind of a orange-brown color scheme running throughout, etc....

i've always thought of the asylum along the same lines as cameron. just not slimey and wet. definitely dark and ominous. with big iron gates surrounding it. the lights all flickering when suho's administering a shock treatment. long, seemingly endless halls, where you're bound to run into a variety of weird/wacky/wonderful characters. the yard being very overgrownd and unkept.
possibly perched atop a hill with a quiet lil town below. the towns people speculating about what kinds of things go on inside that place. heheh

if so, just say so and i will delete it.
all i've done is a couple zooms, adjustments, a filter or two and a background crop. it's amazing what photoshop can do, (hehe) but i'm not sure how accurate this might be.
as far as on the inside, i imagine you may find anything you can imagine sooner or later. and who knows how deep it goes? from some of the things i've read in the FAQ, there may be tunnels that lead to the mainland, or . . . ?
