Is there a way to bring an autocad drawing into photoshop?

Not that I know of, but you can open it in Illustrator 9.0.

Yeah, Ilustrator is probably your best bet to keep the vector file editable.
Export as DXF from AutoCad.
Import DXF to Ill.

or if you just want a Raster file to PS try this.

Converting CAD files to GIF images
CAD files are vector-based. GIF files are compressed "Raster" or "bit-mapped" files. To convert a CAD
file to a GIF file, you may need to convert the CAD file to a Raster file first. Once your CAD file is in a
Raster format, it is readily exported to a GIF file by most Photo/Image editing programs. Some CAD
programs, such as Vector Works, allows a direct export to an image file. Other programs, such as
AutoCAD, require a series of steps;

Raster File Export from the Print Menu:
1. Open an AutoCAD file and choose "Printer Setup" from the file menu.
2. In the Preferences section, choose "New."
3. In the "Add a Printer" section, choose "Raster File Export AD 4.3 by AutoDesk."
4. Respond to prompts, selecting "800x600 pixels" * and "TIFF."
5. In the preference menu, select OK and "TIFF Export."
6. Choose File menu and "Print."
7. In the Device & Default Section, choose "TIFF Export," then "OK."
8. Choose "OK" in the print/plot configuration.
9. The TIFF file is now visible in the default folder.
10. Open the TIFF file in PhotoShop or comparable program.
11. Crop the image or adjust the canvas size to the desired width in pixels/
12. Optimize for the Web and save as a GIF.

Now, can WJ have a cookie ?

If he gets one for every step he just saved, he`d be the zepplin of techno-slop.

I was thinking about asking for one, but it seemed so obvious that I thought it was a non-vialble solution. So, I wasn't sure if a cookie was in order.

'Course, I'll take one.

OT: Speaking of Tech-Slop, I've added two more quickies. Extrude (non-Displace) and Bulge (Displace). I think I've also got a new template down for it, but changing it all over is a massive undertaking.

Kroma is correct. The things that MUST be remembered is 1) change all your layer colors to white (so they appear black in PS); 2) Make sure you set the plot scale to 'SCALE TO FIT' and 3) Make sure your plot area is correctly set (zoom in as tight as possible to avoid the pixalation).

If you are using Autocad 2000 you will need to do steps 1-5 from the 'new' options box... TOOLS > OPTIONS > PLOTTING and then click add new plotter.

Cheers!

Thanks everyone.
I tried all the suggestions, some worked better than others. But the final result was that the drawing sucessfully made it's way into PS5.5.

Thank-You for your help.
