Site is at http://www.finlinson.com/design/

Some of you have seen variations on this and have helped me imensly in the javascripting of it. Although I still want to add more detail about services including pricing and a tutorial section linking to gurus and handson to start., I think I am ready to be judged.

Let me know what works and what doesn't and in what browsers or resolutions. I have sene it loose the background image completely on some systems and am not sure why. I know it falls apart in Opera I think I will try and write an alternate page along the same theme without all the Javascript and DHTML for other browsers to be redirected to but for now heat up the flame throwers and let me have it.

It's falling apart in IE6. The mountain background comes up but disappears as soon as I move the cursor... and when I click on say,,, biography the text will remain up only if the mouse hovers over bio.... move the mouse... bye bye bio... same with the rest. Please don't tell me that's what it's supposed to do.... you'll drive me even further down the dark hallway of the eastwing. <bg>

almost forgot... resolution 1024x

Hmm i think NoJive has had one too many black pills...its fine on IE6 on a win2k platform at 1600x1200 , only one comment on the design link you lisy what you do but to find examples of it you have to look elsewhere on the site, likning from there directly might be a better solution

Man, I love it...or so I thought at first...I was so overjoyed at the color, the logo, the 'playfulness' of the site...until the pop-up windows came...

IMHO...they must go! They just destroy the site...which is beautiful...until those damn pop-ups come...

Couldn't you find a way to change that?

Otherwise, the site rocks! Of course, I love blue...that might have something to do with it...

The text needs more contrast with the background! Try a color that doesn't match the top and bottom of the content area.

Also, you're using a sans-serif font for the menus, and a serif font for the content. You might want to try making that more consistent.

I sort of expected the entries in the list of services to be links.

Finally, your logo's gif transparency needs a bit of work. It looks ok against white, but not when there's a dark part of the mountains behind it. Don't be afraid to lose the drop shadow if that helps; I'm not sure the shadow really adds anything.

I'm using IE 6.0 and everytime I load up another window, and then switch back to the one with your site in it, everything disappears, much like nojive said. Everything just turns blue...

NoJive, synax, WarMage: I have seen what you are talking about but not on any of the machines I have immediate access to. At work on Packard Bell PII233 running IE5.5on WIN 98 It all works fine. At Home I use a AMD 950 and IE 5.5 Win ME with no problems. A colleague at work runs a HP All in one with IE 6 and win ME and his does what you are describing by losing the background on mousemove. I have not seen it on changing between windows. I am at a loss as to what is causing this. I can try to further optimize the image but I don't know if it is coding that is having problems with certain configurations. Any info on what you guys are using and any ideas of what might cause this are very welcome.

WebShaman: Thanks much man and sorry about the popups. I had not originally intended them but I have a problem operating out of the same window in that whenever you go back it complexly reloads the page initial animations and all and you have to re-navigate back to the section you were in. I did not know another way around this right now and ended up with the little popups in the clients section and other pages opening in their own window so when they were closed the original was still in the same place. Again I am totally open to suggestions on how to fix this and make the page more likeable.

Slime: Thanks, I will check into the fonts. To my knowledge I am using the same CSS font call for everything but I'll check. I am planning more for the services. I just wasn't sure how to implement it yet. Somewhere in there I need to post pricing and that sort of thing and as I am new to doing this for profit I am kind of nervous about what to list. To high and I won't get customers too low and they may think I don't think my work is worth much. Also on the image I have intended to back to it once I was more or less done coding. I wasn't completely happy with it either. I am not very good at transparencies though even with the tutorials and all. I am not sure I like it without the shadow but I will try several things. It just seems to look to jaggy without it. I'm not sure how to make it appear smooth and have no halo at all. I Tried it on gradient back ground instead of a true average but their is so much variation in the moving background that there always seems to be some things that don't match. Any Tips?
