On my site I'm trying to do away with as many tables as possible.
My problem is (I'm stupid when it comes to css), I can't figure out how to make a
horizonal menu. The top menu is the one I'd like to change.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've grown rather fond of the methods presented in this A List Apart article. Not only can you get horizontal menus, but they can be HTML list elements! How very semantic! (And, by applying a border-right to all elements but the last, you get a CSS-controlled divider between them.)

The easy way, of course, is simply to say

<p><a href="thing">menu item</a> (divider character) <a href="thing2">menu item</a></p>

So it could end up as

menu item :: menu item :: menu item

menu item
