Topic: pull-out menu (Page 1 of 1)

hey, i'm trying to do a pull down menu in flash...and im having lots of troubles...how do i do this? i wanna do sorta what doc ozone did on his newpage that he listed in the site reviews section...when one part is moused over, the others move down and new content shows up...

If I read you right then this is what you want. I didn't make it, it came from a tutorial site but I cant remember which one. Anyways if so pull it apart n see how its done.

For a more dynamic solution (where sub menu items change often) use attachMovie to create each item then measure the total height of them+gaps and reposition all elements below by that ammount.

yeah, that's sorta what I'm trying to do. This is more precisely what I want to do:

<button1>
<spacer> (same color as background)
<button2>
<spacer>
<button3>
<spacer>
etc....

now, when they mouseover or click on button1, I want button1 to stay put, I want buttons2,3 etc to move down, and i want the spacer to sort of pop out of the background into the new submenu buttons with a shape tween. I could probably alter that examplebar to do this, but i'm not sure....would i use movie clips and buttons? or would i use scenes and go to's? (I'm pretty new to flash, that's the main problem here...<g> )

Me no understand. Have you seen an example of this type of menu somewhere?

Alrighty, go check it out. I spent all day figuring out how the hell to do it...Mind you, I've never made a single thing in flash before. The code is sorta bulky...thing is: how can I shrink it down from its husky 186k?

Yeah, no problem. The code is pretty much static. The file is so damn big because of the shape tween, which makes up over half of the 160k. The .fla will be at www.drisson.com/flash/blendmenu.fla so check it out and tell me what you think...I think that one possibility might be making the shape tween into a dynamic movie clip to cut down on file size....
