I've been playing with Brazil since before September -- when I had the demo. I've learned a lot since then, so I picked up my good friend, the Retro Jack once more. You may remember it from oh so long ago, looking like this:

September, I upgraded with the Brazil R/S demo, version 0.2 alpha. The Jack looked like this:

Now it is nearing December. Today I took one last whack at my old friend. It now looks like this:

You can download the new Jack as a background. Enjoy.

I don't know...personally I like the original Retro-Jack better. For some reason the lighting on it creates a better effect.

I know exactly why. The first Retro Jack, done with MAX's default scanline render, was originally an experiment in lighting. There are 3 completely different lights. First is a spotlight from the back/top/right. Second, there is an omni forward/left/center. Finally, there is a directional light coming from the bottom. I did this because I really wanted more than one specular shine on the white balls. Only having one made them look too ... CG. Because you suggested it, I plan on doing my final render tonight with some more lights added. I might lay off on the global illumination too, despite that I enjoy it so much. Thankyou for your input!

[edit] Also, I originally came back to this project because I thought that the white balls in the original were not white enough. [/edit]

I forgot to start my render last night. You're all still free to suggest things.
