Since it's a bit slow I though I would show off my first real complex model in Lightwave with a soft shadow painted in Photoshop.

A few more buttons to model and UV maps to add, then I can work on the monitor and keyboard.

thats nice, jstuartj, the only thing that i would suggest is applying a metal texture on the PC. you know.....the pc's box is made out of metal...i hope you know what type of metal i mean
once again, nice job

Mas - looking at the machines I have next to me here, both with metal cases, I don't see anything that I would describe as a "metal texture". Just looks like flat paint to me....just like in the render

Looks good from here.

Shadow? To be honest mostly lazyness, and alos I wanted that catalog photography look which I am use to creating.

Lightwave version: 7.5b I think, could be 7.5a. Soon to be version 8, when the ship it.

Working on the surfaces now, the metal is the same color as the plastic, but sort of patina (sp)? I'm thinking maybe cel shading and rending at 2000x2000 so I can trace it in Adobe Streamline to make it vector.

Very good. The shadow definitely isn't dark enough, though.

have you tried using a render with global illumination? should give you a render with a shadow closer to what you're looking for.

DL-44: ahhhhh yah...you are right....this is also the reason why it was so hard for me to describe that sort of metal texture
