I've been trying to install Oracle 9i for ages now, and the setup program just never runs! I don't understand it. I looked on groups.google.com to see if they knew anything about it but they didn't, just something about if have a Pentium it won't install, but I don't have a Pentium. Anybody know what's wrong?

So, check out their website, I'd say.

If you want to know everything about oracle, surf to http://technet.oracle.com "> http://technet.oracle.com . Everything you need to know about oracle is there. Don't panic if you have problem's during the installation of Oracle, a lot of my colleagues need help with the installation of Oracle9i. Don't get me wrong I haven't installed an Oracle database myself, I just work with it for about 8 hours a day.

May I ask for which purpose you use Oracle9i database for wedevelopement? I know Oracle9i is one of the most powerfull databases in the world but I think it's like killing a fly with a cannonball . I don't know much about databases for webdevelopement, but isn't MySQL not sufficient enough?

Dude, try refreshing (ctrl F5) your pages maybe... Just a thought. :shrugs:

About Oracle9i, we just installed that on the 'puters in the lab (well, the ones that could hold it. Ridiculous 3GB download...). Which would raise the obvious question, do you have enough room for it on your HD? I don't know about it not installing on Pentiums, as all of the 'puters we have it on are Pentium. All the Sun/Sparc stations have 8i, and we've never had any trouble with any of them, the Sparcs or Pentiums.

I'll look through the docs we have from when we installed it to see if I can find anything.

Hmm, can't find anything in ours that would be like that... Actually, ours installed without a hitch (surprisingly).

Sorry I can't help... Hope you figure something out...
