Well, I just made this, What do you all think?

Well, that was a bit' big so here.

It's still quite large.

Yup, real big. I'd keep the mega man guy, and lose the text completely. Then I'd shrink the guy down to 50 or 75 pixels and make the whole thing transparent. Then tack your name somewhere under his right arm.

Couple of things I see - I find it a little hard to make out your name properly with the black/white lettering on a dark grey background. Maybe if you changed the hue to blue or red, it would all tie in a little better. Also, your text seems at odds with the cartoon guy. One is a 3D like texture and the other is 2D cartoon art, which is fine but I'm not convinced that the mix works in this case. I do like the way MegaMan, or whoever he is, comes out of the rectangle - that looks good.

Well, I took some of your ideas, and added a few of my own, and it came out pretty okay, what do you think? The lettering is experimental, I'm trying to find text that really goes nicley with the backround of the site .

Using other people's artwork in your sig is *NOT* a good thing. In fact it's a very bad thing. Having your sig way to big is also not a good thing.

Pointing those facts out to you, upon your request for feedback, is not a bad thing. It's a good thing.

Yea, I got some real feedback for ya.
You are using other peoples art and calling it your sig. Technicly speaking that`s a copyright infringement. And such things are rather frowned on here. So if you don`t like people telling you that, I suggest you make something of your own.
Furthermore, you have absolutely no right to tell people to *get out of the thread I started*, so BACK OFF.
You`ll find that our community is a bit point blank at times, brutally honest, vocal to the point of painfulness at times, and also some of the most talented people around. And the most helpful, if you choose to put forth some effort. If you choose to ignore the advise given, why are you here?
If all you want is someone to tell you * Wow that rawks, dood* You`re in the wrong place. If you choose to listen to what you`re told in here, put forth some effort on your own, your skill set will improve. If not, go post your stolen art for your mommy.

On the thing you posted, the text is over filtered, and hard to read. The background does not look like it belongs here. It would look better if the colors complimented the forum colors better, or transparency was used. On the image part, somebody did a nice job on it, but you got a sloppy cut when you lifted it. If you insist on stealing images for you sig, I suggest you practice cutting technique. However, I would prefer that you rebuild it yourself, as this is the only way to learn .

Also, the contrast in styles between the image and the text is distracting, and only emphasises the fact that it`s not your work.

I don't see the big deal here. Clearly that's not his artwork, nor is he making an attempt to pass it off as his own. I can recall several sigs that have contained clipped photos/artwork/etc. that were not the Asylumite's doing but this is the only time I've heard that one brought up.

As for the "my thread" theme, that just won't hold water. You start the thread and then it becomes the property of the community. If you're looking to have smoke blown into your nether regions, as DB said, go show it to mommy. If you want honest feedback (and from the quality of the stuff you've posted thus far, it's not always going to be flowery praise) stick around.

If you don't like it, go somewhere else; we could really do without another whiny crybaby who pisses and moans everytime someone says something negative to them.

As for the sig:

* Too big
* The text for your name is crap and doesn't fit in with the whole concept of the sig. Think cartoonish, solid colors, etc.
* When you shrink your image it's losing it's sharpness, unsharp mask will help you on this.
* Lose that 2nd idea altogether, adding a crap bevel to the Mega Man pic just makes it look all that much shittier.
* I see some white jaggies on the barrel of his gun.
* Lose the grid background in favor of some solid stripes perhaps?

That is all...

hehehe.... I plan to be far away when DL-44 gets back to this thread. hehehehe.... Insulting a senior member... hahaha... thats real smart. I think your definition of "real feedback" needs an adjustment... but I aint in the place to do that... You may want to go to http://www.deviantart.com I am thinking you will find it much more comfortable there. They have a forum that rivals... eh... none other.

I think it's safe to say that who "owns" a thread... was laid out pretty well for ya.... why don't you go read it again.

Threads take twists and turns.... you're just going to have to deal with it. That happens in every forum.

I think your sig is rather weak.
You've done nothing but slap your name on someone else's work, and frankly I don't find that all too impressive.
Although this sort of thing is "kewl" on paintball forums or wherever you're outside linking from...
This is a graphic design forum. And we like to make our own artwork around here.
Ya know... like... be legal n' stuff. dig?

I, as well as you do not want a flame war. So I will stop. I will work on making something of my own, and when someone gives me some rude feedback, if that's what you want to call it, I just won't even pay any attention to it. As for this SSJ4_Goku charachter, I have no clue, nor have I ever had a clue who he is, or was. I'm not sure what you people where and obviously still are trying to point out to me, if you want to explain yourself, be my guest. If you don't, that's just fine also.
I see no reason to string this war out. I like it here at OzoneAsylum, and don't want or plan on leaving. I want to get along with everyone here. I understand where everyone is coming from here. I did slap my name on someone elses artwork, with my name and some scan lines. I don't know how to do anything else. I am about half way through the tuts on GURUS. I plan to become more knowledgeable on the subject of photoshop. I will NOT be useing what I made as a signature image, until I can make something of my own.
As for the whole get out of MY thread thing. I understand that it isn't my thread. If you read back over my posts in this thread, you will see rather than saying "my thread" I said, "The thread I satarted".
I understand, and relized the proble,s that may have originated from things I've said, or done. I intend to try to make up for those by answering everyones question, of whitch I have knowledge about.

Okay, lose the whole marble/rock/whatever texture thing with the text. It's not working at all. The smaller sig is not too bad, but again the text texture is just not a good idea.


You know, it's funny, but I bet if I posted the exact same thing as DL, I would have gotten away with it. Must be the hair.

Well, there have been a lot of good comments here, and I agree with most of them. I would especially like to stress (once again) that the text and the image really don't seem to go together. Like krets said, solid colors and a bit more of a cartoonish feel would probably serve you better.

If I may offer a piece of advice? When you screw up, don't try to explain yourself, defend yourself or dig yourself out of the hole. Just say, "I screwed up, I'm sorry," and then move on. I'm not trying to be inflammatory here, I'm just trying to pass along something I learned the hard way (and am still learning...).

Looks like everone is having 'fun' here but the sig is no longer showing - if it is a temporary problem then thats fine but as everyone has said their piece and (somewhat) cleared the air it would appear that this tread has passed it 'sell by date' and should be heavily discounted and put with the dented tins of chopped tomatos. I'll leave it for now and see if the sig reappears.

Now, that said, let me just say that barging around telling people - especially forum moderators - to get out of your thread, isn't going to work real well for you. So I'd suggest sucking it up and dealing with the feedback you get.
