Topic awaiting preservation: My first sig (Page 1 of 1)

This is my first sig. I've tried to go with a Celtic/Viking feel, if that's even possible. I figured, since I was born in Dublin, Ireland, which was settle and founded by the Vikings, I should try to incorporate the two, what you you all think?

Personally, I think that it would look better with JUST the BOM68 letters and without the other crap. With transparency, that is.

Smaller (and transparent, of course) would be nice, but I do like all the elements of it. The gems look good. [Edit: ...except for the fact that the two gems have light reflections coming from two different corners. It looks like you made the one gem, then turned it 90 degrees to make the other. Fix that, and it'd look better.]

For a first sig, it's a really good effort...

Take a look here: and fix the tranparency.
Then try reducing it to a more reasonable sig size, and consider what the gems bring to the piece, and I'm pretty sure you'll have a keeper.

Ok .:. so I have changed a few things from the original. I actually like the look of this and really want to keep it as my sig, I think I might, but in the meatime, what do you guys make of it? I have used the glass with the leaves behind it as the "O" in mt MOB68. Let me know. Thanks.

Now, what would be pretty cool is if you could animate the inside of the jewel thingy

I'm playing with a few colors for the background. The transparent dosen't look good at all. I'm going to have to make some more changes. Thanks for the comments.

How about something more subtle? Like Ini's little flash of light type thing applied to the orb.

I quite like the red versions. If you've got any problems on transparent GIFs not looking like they should, I'd recommend This transparency tutorial at the Gurusnetwork. For imageready, take a look at This :FAQ: on Imageready transparency.
Maybe my response in this thread about Imageready clears up some stuff you may not know yet.

The blue versions aren't really great, IMHO. The white text doesn't really fit with the rest, both in color as in font. Also, I've got a personal thing against square banners... but that's just me. Also, I think red suits this forum a little better. I think if you get rid of the black background and make that transparent, you've got something very nice.

That's my not so good at but willing to try anything part coming out. The font I used is "EileenCaps". I agree with mahjqa on this one. In my opinion, the blue signature kind of clashes with the colors of the board... The red text with the animated jewel and a transparency would look better I think. But that's just me.

I disagree, simply because I hate this idea of signatures having to fit in with the forum's color scheme.

Human Shield thank you. I guess I'm just have to make lots of different versions, load them to a site and add a poll, and which ever one wins, then that will be the one I use. Sounds like a plan.

I like the blue one too. Only thing I don't like about it is the font of the white text.
Would also be cool with some kind of animation.

Just go with what you like. Its all good stuff, cept imho, i dunt like the boreder and background. Yah ain't never gonna make us all happy though so just go with what ya like... Soon enough ya will probably make another sig... and another.

I agree, i like the blue, but just the Mob and the 68, with the transparencry, would make it kinda look like the word is indented.... i like it
