Here's my first attempt at an animated sig
(i'm not adding it in my signature yet-)

{ I deleted the file--sorry look below! }

I once knew how to remove this ugly white border... [corrected - i hope]

I love it.

The animation is rather jerky....I think it would be a little better if it were smooth, but I love the image.

Nice quote too =)

I know it's jerky, but to make it smoother I need to add more frames, don't I?
And more frames = bigger size...
I only have 3 frames for now, I'm gonna try to find a good compromise between smoothness and size.
How many frames should I have?

I noticed also that between the first and second frame, it looks like the top of the head moves down a little and then back up for frame three.

Yeah, the whole image distorts a bit in the vertical direction. Beyond that and the need for more frames it's pretty cool.

There's no hard and fast rule about how many frames you should have. I won my very first sig contest with a 3-frame animation, as a matter of fact.

That being said, two more frames might help smooth things out. I definitely think you can get away with five frames on this one. Also, cleaning up the vertical distortion will go a long way to making it seem smoother, too.

I added a frame (actually duplicated one), and changed the Frame Delay.

But I messed up with the files and didn't keep the original...So you won't see the work progression.
Anyway...
I like it better this way

as for the distortion, it appears when I make the image smaller...one layer seems to distort by himself. weird.
So here are the two versions:

If all the layers are the same size to begin with, and you shrink them the same amount, that shouldn't happen. I have no idea why one of the layers is a pixel wider.
