I know the standard answer to the upcoming question will most likely be a resounding "NO, DAMNIT!", but I'll ask anyway. Can someone here make a sig for me?My coffee swirl sig's acting up, and I have no idea how to use Illustrator. Thank you so much if you do, I'll be eternally in your debt for about two weeks if it's a good one.

It's a bit of throwaway php I wrote ... originally it was to give me a sig which showed the "Currently Playing" track on my web radio station ... but it can easily be modified to work as a random quotation "fortune cookie", with or without randomly selected background pictures, or as I did it here .. a "gotcha" sig ... If you're interested, here's the code for the one above ...

you call it with an img tag containing the name of the php file instead of the image. If you want to get REALLy slick, you can put the whole lot in a sub-dir, and create a .htaccess file containing

RedirectMatch (.*)sig.jpg$ $1.php

ind if your apache server recognises it, you can then use an img tag with a "genuine" .jpg name in it (filesig.jpg), and confuse everyone even more ... bwahahahahaha

The code is pretty self-explanatory, and all the functions are well documented at http://www.php.net, but if you have an earlier version of PHP (pre - 4.3) you will need to install the GD library and compile against it to get the graphics manipulation.

Sorry S.D. - I really don't have a lot of time right now, and PHP installations are quite site-dependant, so I may not be able to put my finger on what's not working. First thing to do is to strip out the comments and check the syntax. I may have added a typo or something in the process of commenting the code (coz I did it as I posted it here so it isn't tested in commented form).

OTOH - You should be able to work out what it does from the code ... I commented it for that reason ... and anything you don't understand you can look up at http://www.php.net by searching for the functions in the function reference section (search on the front page) and reading the descriptions and the accompanying comments.

I always say that if you don't understand a piece of code, then you shouldn't be using it .. my apology ... that's not intended to be a piss-off, it's just that in my experience, not doing so only leads to grief later.
