The point is to use a picture or a drawing of your head (possibly also another body part , but leave out the PA's*) in a sig. Examples would be Wes' new sig:

Or my matrix one.

If you want, you can also use the head of a screw, the head of a horse, a skull, maybe even a guillotine... it's all up to you. However, it's got to be related to your (or anybody's) head.

No recycles.

Boudga, nice bright sig but Tao has used up all his daily quota of working brain cells, and can't work out what "Hittin' the head" means.
I'm flush out of ideas.
I'm bogged down in confusion.

Taobaybee, I didn't understand the reference either. I was stumped trying to figure out the connection between a toilet and Boudga's head! I've never heard "hittin the head" before.

Hey all,

Yhe "Head" being used as a reference to the toilet is a Naval term. It is usually on a ship, boat, sub, and the like. I am not sure why or how it started to be called the Head, but there you go...

In fact there was an old Army joke we used to tell about our brothers in the Navy:

Q: Why do the Navy guys call the bathroom the "Head"?

A: It's what's their used to seeing the most of while in there....Yank Yank...

Peace,

well it's a military term for "using the restroom"...I've heard that term used a lot through my life and occasionaly use that term myself therefore I thought it thematic and humerous to create a sig for that term....

Ok, I need help... Normally I use Jasc's Animation Shop when doing animation but for some reason when I upgraded PSP I can no longer transfer images back and forth between the two. It's frustrating... So I took a step into the wonderful world of Image Ready and tried to work my first animation there.

***image deleted to save download time in thread***

I think you can see the problem...

I tried searching on relevent links and going through the faq but either the shock treatments aren't working or they are working too well and I can't find what I'm looking for. Then when I used the search feature every link I clicked on a relevant thread message title that looked promising it only opened up another search window...

Ok... Long story short (too late?) I need help!

Peace,

- Jung

did you turn off your background layer?

It needs to be transparent in the PSD and in IR, if you want it to export as transparent.

Ok, I don't want to seem to be hijacking this thread (should I start a new one?) but here is the same sig minus the stand and cleaned up TV a little. Trying to reduce the size of this monster but keep the general feel for it. Any more suggestions?

I would keep at least a little something on the bottom poking out as a platform or stand (otherwise it looks like it's floating). Or it could look like it's plugged in from the sides, etc... Or purposefully make it look like it's floating.

Also, if you do it in a subtle manner, you can always have a dial or buttons that animate as the screen changes. When I think of changing channels, I always think of the little dial moving back and forth. That would kind of give it that "Brazil" movie feel, when retro meets sci-fi.

Lastly, it looks a little bit plastic. If you want that metal look, maybe sharpen the highlights a bit? If you look at Mahjqa's blades, you can see the different in the look of the metal.

It looks good otherwise, and it's a funny take, for those of us old enough to remember Max.

Oops. Perhaps I should have posted here first..
I started off trying for an animation of my head in a simulated mirror reflection, moving back and forwards. But the file size was huge, so I had to cut the dimensions down and half the animation. The still version did not look that big while I was making it in PS, but now that I have posted it I think it is perhaps a little too large.

Okie Dokie, here is my latest version.

Tao takes a step away from the dark side
Continuous animation and lighter. The filesize is still huge I'm sorry to say. I have reduced the colours to 32. Sometimes you feel like crying, spending hours on getting the colours, blends etc just how you like them, then you have to smash them to pieces by reducing the filesize in IR till the image starts breaking up like it has started to do here. Ah well, worse things happen at sea!
Now that I have firmed up the initial idea, I may go back to the beginning and start again with fewer frames to see if I can get the size down below 50kb.
Any suggestions?
Also... i'm sure there must be an easier way to do this. I have been using a photo of myself on one layer with another copy of it only reversed, on another layer above. Then I set the top image of the two to "Difference" and moved them both towards each other a couple of pixels at a time. Then I made an oval(ish) selection to cover the parts I wanted to retain and saved it. Then flattened the two layers, loaded the selection, inverted it and deleted the parts that I did not want. saved that composite layer, then stepped back a couple of steps till the two layers became "unflattened" and then pasted the composite image in a seperate layer, later to become a frame of the animation. Then I repeted the whole process moving the two images another couple of pixels towards each other. I repeated this process about 12 times untill I arrived at the "final " image (the one with the "Tao" text on it).
Is there a way to do this without all of the stepping back? I'm sure I recall a shortcut to save composite layers without flattening and unflattening to get the effect.
Oh Poo I have just reread the above and I don't think I explained it very well.

CTRL-SHIFT-C is copy merged, which means that everything in the PSD will be copied, and pasted as if it was all one big layer.

(also accessible via [edit>copy merged] )

Ok, this was a lot harder than I thought it would be and proved to me yet once again I am a horrible artist! Yes the head is actually me, in fact it is the same head I used for the Max-Headroom sig. After a TON of work (you can't see the hours of labor in this sig!) it sort of looks like me but not really...But anyway, submitted for your interest (or not...) is the Beavis and Junghead sig...

Please be kind... Heheheh
