Topic: Small forum suggestion (Page 1 of 1)

Ya know that radio button you can click to get email notifications? I think it would be great if you could edit that. Sometimes you post a topic and expect only a couple of answers then it gets huge and you wake up with 80 emails!

Just a suggestion....

Good idea, i've had that happen to me and with a 3 meg limit on my inbox it is a bit hard on anyone else who wants ot email me.

I wish that the 'Show Signature' box was checked by default...

other than that, I'm fine... I don't really use the email thing that much... I just make a shortcut to the url on my desktop and check when I get online...

Or, you can actually come to the Forum and check the topic to see if it has any replies <img border=0 align=absmiddle src="http://www.ozones.com/forum/wink.gif">

OK, I'm with you all on this one. The 'show sig' box used to be checked by default, but in one of my numerous hacks I had to go back to an older version to avoid some broken bits, and it got neglected. I'm going to eliminate the "mail me" function altogether, sometimes people will check this, but they've used a broken email address in their profile! Then guess who gets all of the bounced 'no such user' messages, hmm? I'll do some hacking tonight.

aaahhh.actually doc, I recon that you should make the forum send them a verfication email so that you can check that their email works, and they have to reply to it or follow a link or something to be able to post, and stuff...umm....yeah...

Yeah, but then if there email changes and they don't update it the problem continues. And then there's the added trouble of deaeling with all those confirmation emails. Yuck.

hmmmmm... I am gonna attempt to add a little common sense to this point raised by Krets...

now the way I see it, most of us are here on a daily basis.. so that being the case... why would you want to be emailed that you have had a response to your posts, considering your more than likely be here reading anyway?

The point is a valid one Krets, but I am tempted to say it is more to do with lethargy than actually being a problem for you/us..

I just don't see it being a big enough problem I guess...
