I know,
I know since yesterday and have now fixed a bug that prevented the first page to be loaded from the faq's cache.
You know can browse the faq again, (at least most of its pages), but you can't edit, vote or add topics)

Seems the database is down, and I can't raise the Doc... I'd probably have to complain to dreamhost, but the support contact info is hidden in their account panel.

Anybody got the Doc's phone No.?

Synthetic: Although the DB is down TP did implement a page caching system so if you can get into the FAQ a lot of pages are still available for viewing - try going in via my sig, for example. You couldn't vote, edit or add them or view the recent changes or most visited but you can still get at most of the popular ones while the problem is being fixed

a server-side caching system?

how does that work?

grabs the two parameters the faq takes from a browser, secures them (ie, checks if they're valid),
builds a filename from them, looks if cached\filename does exist, if so, fputhroughs() that file, dies. Otherwise, builds the page dynamically.
add a function to build said file, and a switch to rebuild the file even if there is a cached version, add that part to every place the file is changed -> nice server side caching system. Eat's diskspace, though.

Yah, I got this fixed, we had some glitch in Dreamhost where the SQL hostname became, well, not there anymore. But it was, so it couldn't be created again! Really, they should know by now to simply pass me along to the tech department, if I call support it means that something is broken, not me being an idiot. ;-) Sorry I've been so quite lately, I am *so* overwhelmed with jobs to do right now, and also fighting this summertime urge I have to do, well, nothing at all. Ah well! I gotta run, I need to complete 3 impossible tasks by the end of the month, fun!
