All righty then ... it's high time to get a new thread going here. Would an admin be so kind as to lock up the previous one ... thanks.

Bugimus, How is your answer coming for the formal debate? I know earlier you had said you were pretty busy. Could you just give us an estimate as to when you will be posting it. No pressure or nothin' ... just curious.

Fig, the formal debate is a little farther down the thread list and is called "Formal Debate for "Does God Exist?" " Can't miss it!

Man o man ... look at all these peanut shells! Anyone got a broom?

InSiDeR, we're here for you so just let us know if we can help.

BeeKay, I have been very busy and I feel bummed about holding things up here. I have been working on my reply though. I should have my reply up by Thursday night, hopefully sooner. I really appreciate everyone's patience on this but sometimes things come up and that's just the way it is.

Ok, I guess I can reveal some of this personal problem...

My mom thinks this forum is satanic because of its "disbelief of god" ambience that is going around in the debate. So she called my dad here in florida to tell him that while on my computer she found this site... My dad told me that she was putting in some kind of program that somehow tracks down the sites I go to or blocks them I don't know... My mom doesn't know I know about the program she is installing, so I need to know how to get it out when I go back home to my precious computer in Kentucky on August 5'th.

Perhaps it would be better to show your mom that this isn't a "satanic" place. There are several Xians in this forum so it's hardly a satanic place. This is just a place where ideas and speech are allowed to flow freely.

insider...I'll send you an email tonight with something that might owrk. Although i wouldn't normally ocndone something like this, I really hate it when someone tries to force their beliefs onto somebody else, or stop them seeing something when their own beliefs cloud their judgment.

No more will be said by me here.

I think what bugimus means is that you should show her the other aspects of the forum , so that even if she does install the software, perhaps she'll see this as one of the sites that's ok. With a child your age, I'd be running such software if I were her as well.

On a related topic, I'd just like to remind everyone that tonight is the big ceremony, so remember to bring your robes, goblets of blood, sacrificial daggers, and an unwitting victim with you

DL, with parents looking for signs of satanic activity, you might not should have said that!

InSiDer, I certainly hope that you continue your quest for knowledge regardless of the restrictions your parents might place on you. Just make sure you are always aware of the consequences of your actions... An open and educated mind is a good thing...

Aside: I am SOOO glad to know I'm not the only one bogged down with the outside world! I was feeling bad about it there for a bit...

Insider...although I share the feeling, the words may not have been the best choice.

Start at the top and work your way down. It breaks down just about all the major positions you can take on the question of whether God exists. It goes from decision/indecision all the way down to what kinds of theism you have to choose from.

I wanted to include it 1. because a visual aid is cool and 2. because I was trying to show that limiting my focus of God to the Big 3 (Judaism,Xianity,Islam) was a good move.

Well, I finished my bicycle trip, but since we left 5 days late we (me and my dad) only made it down to San Jose. Luckily he has a friend their so were stayin there for a while. Anyways...VERY nice responce Bugs, and I look forward to seeing the question posted for WebShaman and I also have a question that could be used against InSiDeR or WebShaman:

"Scientists usually refer to facts or theories that are suffisiently backed up/have been tested and retested in controlled and uncontrolled enviorments. But evolution seems to me to depart from that pattern of relying on fact. Evolution cannot be tested, from the creation of a bacterium via energy striking some gooey stuff to a guy (or gal) sitting at their computer typing into a forum about computer graphics. So why would a scientist want to rely on a theory that cannot be proven? Instead, why not rely on one that has more historical, and factual truth to it?"

Ok, that aside, after riding for about 800 miles, I'm really tired!

Bugs: I enjoy the fact that agnosticism is place in the area of indecision and that atheism is is listed as disbelief. The root of agnoticism is recongising that both theism and atheism are potentially unprovable belief systems and that there is no real way to prove that a God does not exist - the onus should be on theists to prove that a God exists.

InSiDeR: It is sad that your mother feels this way as there are plenty of good Christians here quite happy to defend their corner with vigour (and they stop us Godless heathens from running around in our goatskin leggings handing out hallucinogenic love drugs - sorry I couldn't help it). Perhaps someone would be happy to answer any questions your mother has.
