As you may or may not know, my father has been struggling with brain cancer for the last two years or so. Unfortunetly he passed away this Wednesday night. I've spent the last two days with my family and attempting to find a way to distract myself and younger brother from the grief that overwhelms us all. I have been absent from the Asylum for a bit now and will continue to be so for some time following this post. |

The hearts and mind of the Asylum go with you. We've got no use for them, and we lost our minds quite a while ago. |

Well... Things are going pretty well so far. The support from the community in my Mom's area is amazing and is helping her a great deal. The hammer hasn't fallen yet but it will soon enough I'm sure. I appreciate the sympathies and support that you all have offered me. It helps to know that people out there care about that faceless 'Nickname' in the Asylum. |

This letter was written by my mother to thank all of those in her community that have helped her so much in these trying times. I wanted to extend that to all of you here who have shown your support of me. |

A great letter and what great support and kindness. And you Dad of course must have been some kinda good guy to warrant such an outpouring. |

You have no idea. I wish everyones Dad could be like mine (in principle). He was soft spoken, layed back, sorta cranial and an all around great guy. Like most fathers, it seems, you couldn't get him to 'say' that he loved you but you knew anyway. That's one of the things that makes me happiest about my Dad. My family will always remember him as the wonderful man he was because he wasn't ever anything else. I sometimes wonder what it is I did in one of those past lives to warrant such a wonderful father. |

GD - I just happened on this thread. My deepest sympathies to you and yours. Both my uncle and my grandfather died of cancer. My grandfather several years back and my uncle just last summer. |
