Does it disgust anyone else that the media is playing up this Kobe Bryant situation like he's some innocent guy being accused of rape by a money hungry woman? Flowering please. If that was another black man (or man of any color), let's say he was a mechanic earning a middle-class wage, he'd already be rotting away in a prison somewhere. |

Kobe himself attempted to be a rapper maybe five years ago... and was so bad that this current business could just be karma. |

Kobe Bryant is a wealthy, good looking, talented, popular athlete. I haven't heard any convincing arguments from either side suggesting he did or didn't rape her but common sense tells me Kobe Bryant doesn't need to rape a 19 year old girl. I doubt theres a 19 year old girl on the planet who wouldn't love to be with him. |

I can think of quite a few... not all 19 year old girls are driven by money and sex. |

And Kobe has also already proved that he is a wealthy, good looking, talented, popular liar. |

Jestah: I'm afraid the fact that he doesn't have to doesn't mean he didn't - rich and powerful people often think they can get away with anything - remember Tyson? Not an arguement for but......... |

I would like to believe that he wouldn't resort to rape, but it's definitely in the realm of possibility. Just as the girl trying to get either money or publicity or whatever out of this is a possibility. I can't very well be touting his innocence or guilt at this point though, as there's just not enough information available to make such a judgement. quote:

Jeezus .. we (the Yanks and the Brits) are in the process of raping an entire country, and have already sacrificed several of their citizens, all good men and women, in the process ... AND at least one of their leaders has been caught out lying about the evidence available at the time ... and both leaders are still looking for solid justification (read a good excuse) after the event. Hell guys .. if the (now ex-) President of the United States of America can commit perjury, lie to the Supreme Court, commit adultery, and conspire with others to pervert the course of justice, and get way with it, why shouldn't a piddly little a basketball player ??? |

while i'm not a kobe fan i can't say i'm necessarily against the guy at this point as none of us really know what happened. he did at least admit to having sex with the girl (tho after denying it) which is quite a bit more than other celebs we've seen involved in this sort of thing do. the way i see it there's only two people who actually do know what happened, and one of them isn't telling the truth. a simple check of the girl for bruises and other rape indicators, which i'm assuming has already been done, should tell us which person that is. |

I'm split about 60-40 against Kobe at this point. There's a couple of reasons. The first is that yes a mechanic of any color would be instantly presumed guilty (heck we wouldn't even hear about it probably). |
